Warning: Not your average escape room! We were a group of three with a last minute booking. We have done a few escape rooms so familiar with the format, but we had never had such an interactive experience with live actors. The venue don't seem to make you aware of this fact, which is both a massive selling point, but we can imagine may also make some people more uncomfortable. We did 'The Ward' with Rowan and Freddie as actors. Both were great fun and played their characters perfectly. The puzzles were fairly straightforward, but enjoyable. I'd say it was at the easier end of difficulty, but with the actor with you throughout, it adds another dimension. The rooms were fairly basic as far as escape rooms go, but the acting easily took it up to five stars for us. We won't give anything away, but it was quite the finish!

This was a birthday surprise and it was the best gift ever! I love escape rooms and have done a couple and this was the best by far. The scare actors were great scared me about a thousand times. It was definitely difficult but in a good way I always find escape rooms can be quite easy but this definitely got your brains thinking. This has been the best experience ever and recommend this place to anyone who is looking to do a escape room! Will 100% come here again and again! Thank you Freddie and Layla the scare actors who done a fantastic job and made the experience great!

We visited The Ward at Hell In The Cell last Thursday, and it was absolutely brilliant from start to finish! The experience was immersive, interactive, and just the right amount of scary — we were on edge in the best way! There were lots of laughs, screams, and surprises, and the staff made it even better with their energy and commitment to the theme. If you're looking for a fun, spooky, and memorable night / afternoon out, I’d definitely recommend giving this a go. We’ll be talking about it for ages!

We did hell in a cells " The Execution " expecting to be blown away by the decievingly good story which is written on their website aswell as seeing the 5* reviews for hell in a cell, only to be very disappointed on arrival.

The experience was really uncomfortable as the room was unhygienic, mould on the walls, damp, no ventilation which made it hard to breathe down there especially as i have asthma and they dont warn about that, and some of the locks were wet and slimy. Tin cans actaully smelt like gone off food which havnt been replaced or cleaned in years ( even if the real purpose of that is for a more realistic experience it definitely violates health and safety), not to mention we weren't shown a fire exit, or safety guidelines which we've always been shown on other escape room games.

The room was very tiny and we expected there to be a second room or more to it which there wasnt.

Their was no story corresponding to what they advertise on the site, just one of us put in a chair and basic puzzles to free him out, and the guy on the walkie talkie being extremely rude using swear words in an intimidating way.

We escaped the game, but in reality did not escape that unpleasant experience that day.

Dont waste your money on this game or you'll be disappointed just like us ( even my autistic brother was bored and devastated thinking he had contracted salmonella after touching the tuna can. My best friend has done over 20 escape rooms and said this is by far the worst hes ever been to, and my partner is a massive horror fan but didnt get any...

Okay. How do I even start to begin? As a bit of an escape room aficionado I was a bit reticent when told this would be "scary". We have done plenty of escape rooms in the past that promised scary and were creepy and had great elements of horror, but arguably failed to deliver. However, this was on another level. From the arguably simplistic welcome text at half 11, asking you to call a number when you arrive outside a sadly dilapidated business place, to the "host" (the wonderful Jamie) opening a none too disturbing back entrance with a chain linked fence and giving you a safe word incase you were too scared. . It had a wonderful sense of unnerving you from the very start. I mean no other venues had such confidence in them scaring the shit out of you. Would it have worked with more than just 2, I don't know but me and my mate absolutely loved this experience I don't want to say too much more to distract anyone who hasn't been from the true experience. Even saying the above has left me thinking perhaps others may not feel the same, but frankly I don't care. Freddie, Jamie, you were a part of one of my and my friends favourite moments in life. It cannot be understated how either of you were pivotal to the experience. Thank you. Whilst you could nit pick at the clues later on being quite easy, the overall experience will live on in the memory and honestly I don't think anyone's brain would function quite as well under those circumstances. We made out half way we think but our memories will be exponentially...

Under new management? Misleading marketing?

To be clear I specifically sought after this escape room as myself and another guest had been there before and it was absolutely amazing. However BIG issue this place is absolutely NOT the place we went to before though it is advertised as such and using its old marketing and positive reviews. First we arrive slightly early and ready to go, but no answer from the phone number to call and when we happen to spot a worker we are told some people are running late so we need to wait. The person running late was completely apathetic. We end up waiting about an hour before we got inside and began the introductions.

The escape room itself was at BEST a mediocre escape room and an awful horror experience and also not suitable for a large group of people like we had, half the group were standing around twiddling there thumbs whilst the live actors were spoon feeding clues either to hurry us along or because it was just badly hosted. Everyone left disappointed. Myself and my friend who had been to the ā€˜original’ were especially frustrated as we felt completely miss sold.

After some digging this place seems to be sold as a ā€œcontinuationā€ of the original hell in a cell story however seems to more of a new management buyout or something. The original was actually located in the cells underneath the crown courts and was awarded for best horror room in Europe, this new one...
