This is true hidden gem. There are so many great thing inside. Firstly a bakery. The best bakery in Bristol so far. Sourdoughs, rosemary focaccia or overnight toast breads are just pure art of craft. And the little cakes and desserts are really awesome especially for people who like to try some unusual flavours which are keep changing (including juniper rosemary chocolate or courgette and lime). Extra points for vegan options with the same or even better taste than non-vegan. Second the restaurant. One of the best coffees, and the food is awesome. There is Nything for everyone on breakfast menu. Mind lunch options are more on the tasty while healthy side. 6 stars for me, not sure about the more carnivorous-only people. Third the shops. Quality produce or things you just cannot find in supermarkets. Wine/cider shop with emphasis on local and/or natural products. And cheese which is also more localised or less known farmer production. And lastly a huge part of why I am so impressed with this shop is the staff. Never had a problem, everyone is helpful and friendly. Even when they are busy they keep happy and perfect service. Yes, because if it uniqueness weekends are busy times, but for reason. All the staff is like well oiled machine and there to make your day better. I really hope the quality stays so I can enjoy shopping for my bread and having coffee&cake with my vegan friends in nice place. In a little cosy pocket inside of bedminster reality.

Relaxed restaurant with cafe vibes selling cakes, loaves of bread, pastries and Italian groceries. After a 20 minute wait we eagerly took our seats in the leafy dining room. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the baked cheesecake. It was absolutely amazing, with a creamy and velvety texture that melted in my mouth. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and I couldn't resist going back for seconds. Another standout dish was the kimchi toastie. The combination of the tangy kimchi and the perfectly toasted bread was a match made in heaven. The bread itself was exceptional, with a great texture and flavor that elevated the entire dish. It was evident that a lot of care and attention went into crafting this toastie. I was so impressed that I purchased a mozzarella, tomato, and basil sandwich to takeaway and again it was delicious! The only drawback was the ratatouille which had a bitter taste and was disappointing.

It was really lovely - I’m also gluten free and they did non gluten options. The food itself was so tasty, and there were various options for vegan, veggie etc… They have fresh bread and also cakes/coffee and wines too. The chef even gave me some extra hash browns because I couldn’t have the bread - that was lovely and they were stunning. However, since it’s not really safe for celiacs (as cross contamination, and I’m not) there could be gluten free bread available to make more options available. The poach eggs were great with the hash browns but unfortunately because there was no bread I just wasn’t very full at the end and it’s not the cheapest place. Worth it but I feel like gluten free bread would make it a lot better! The atmosphere was beautiful and they had charger points too. Wi-Fi worked well and toilets were clean. The staff too were so polite and lovely to get on with. Would highly recommend!

Delicious brownie and a cookie - £5 and £3 so not cheap but excellent moist etc. I tried this cafe months ago after an Asda shop ( opposite this cafe) & was umimpressed with the surly manner of a waitress ( table service) who saw that I had not bought a hot drink (only a delicious but v thin slice of cheesecake).and keot telling me to buy Almost gave in but when I asked about one type of coffee on the menu she could not it seems understsnd what I was saying but looked annoyed with me instead. Phew. But the cafe is big bright and spacious plus handy location as I mentioned. Today I looked up cafes in Bedmnster & saw 'Bristol Loaf and did not realise that the cafe was the one that I had already tried opposite 'Asda' ( BDS Asda ideally "facial & body recognitiion' surveillance instore I only viisit in person every few weeks because for months online app not working - using hours trying to pay etc.. Anyway! Got there cafe not busy, looked at prices and was didappointed for savoury food £7, for example, for a approx 5 inch by 3 inch v thin slices of pizza on display with barely any topping. I had wanted a slice of pizza ideally...I dont mind paying for nice food but.. A few staff - one male waiter asked if I wanted help but I was still lookng at the cakes at the display counter for a few mins I grabbed a menu & happily sat down and looked at it... Chose a brownie mot sny menu item and cappucinno While I looked at the menu same male brought me a carafe of water and a glass and said shirtily ' water while you are choosing'. I guess ai was meant to be seated and given menu by staff but no ond offered after a few mins so sat down etc! Cake and coffee brought and I thanked and politely asked waitress if she knew why the cafe WiFi would not work on my phone - she could not care less and showed it...I asked if any other staff might know & she said 'no'.. I walked up to counter and asked - nice female barrista did not know...I asked the sh snidey waiter and he told me how to fix it...patronisingly... Ate cake & chocolate cookie ( went up and asked at counter for cookie no waiters which I dont mind one bit but the sullen female i asked about wifi was now behind counter looked vp-ssed off to pick up cookie inches from her and put it on plate! Even though I had not waited to be 'served' ( hours it could be it seems with a free helping of attitude. Excellent cakes drank coffee All fine....A shame about some staff & some price but lovely cakes. 12 percent service included...

It was my first time at The Bristol Loaf yesterday and I was a little disappointed after hearing so many good reviews and recommendations. The cake and coffee was lovely, however the service was very poor. After we sat down, we were given a brunch and drink menu, however, we were just after a pastry I saw on their Instagram and a coffee. I went up to the counter to have a look at the cakes and pastries as I wasn’t interested in having food. Because the pastries weren’t listed on the menu and there was a queue forming in front of me, I stood in the queue to ask whether they had the pastry I was after. The second I queued up, I had an angry waiter come up to me and just stay ’It’s table service here’ in a rather unpleasant voice. I made my way to the table and wanted to ask if it’s the same case for pastries and I only managed to say ‘I wanted’ before he rudely interrupted by saying ‘it’s table service here’. I found the picture of the pastry online and asked whether they still had it because I didn’t see it at the counter. He just said ‘no we run out’ in the most unenthusiastic way, I then asked for a cheesecake that I saw on the counter and he said ‘we run out’ without even checking. He then turned around and checked and said, it’s still there and I asked whether I could have it. We ordered this one slice of cake and coffee and had to wait a while before he came back to us. The payment was weird as well because he didn’t take the payment right away, he just came up when we were in the middle of eating. His manner was awful and I’m usually not the one to complain, but he really ruined the experience. I’ve worked in hospitality for quite sometime myself and I know that it’s not always easy but at least being polite...

i’ve been coming here for years and it really depends on who is working on that day - great atmosphere overall, just think they need better hands-on staff and better sense of structure. I don’t work there so I don’t know what the culture is like but seems disorganised.

Recently I came for their breakfast and the person taking our orders gave us the wrong food, when I told them they replied “no you said this” with a blank face. I then doubted myself, but my friends who ordered the exact same as me said no we definitely said our order as written on menu.

Anyway, who cares! mistakes happen, I was apologetic about it because it was already busy and I didn’t want to waste their time and resources.

The service I received was unnecessary and frankly rude. I tried not to take it personally because they were also rude to an older couple that came in after us but I really need to point out that this is not ok and please don’t work in hospitality if you are straight up dismissive and hostile. They never apologised and when they gave us the food we asked for they just put it on our table and didn’t say a single thing. Made me feel super awkward and uncomfortable. I don’t want to point out who this was because maybe they were having a bad day?

Overall, quality of food is amazing, highly recommend the bakery section, coffee is okay - i’ve had better for less in Bristol.

90% of the staff are super lovely 😃

If you really want a table to sit on I recommend going earlier than you plan to because it can be up to 45 mins queuing time especially on the...
