I myself recently visited the one & only historically captivating, most insightfully uplifting calderdale industrial museum (with my P.A.), from the moment we arrived... and set foot within said museum in halifax out there... It felt like going back through time as walked up every floor, checking out each & every display of whom the calderdale industrial museum has to offer,

It's the very first time visiting this captivating museum 'in-person' and my P.A's first visit as well... I also recommend this imposing museum to all with more than an interest in the history of halifax, the calder valley, and their industrial pasts through time,

I'm also impressed with the fine range of displayed vintage old washer machines, tumble-dryers and other bathroom/kitchen machinery in-between,

Also impressed by the quentessential quality street display - showcasing the history in quality street chocolates past & present, especially the recreated colourful wrappings & other wrappages too... not to mention the volunteer-run machinery below ground of whom under the main floor of the museum as well... the calderdale industrial museum is certainly - most definitely a one-of-a-kind museum next door to the nearby piece hall.

I look forward to hopefully return/revisit this historically captivating museum of industrial history to behold, one day.

Tip-TOP...

We spent well over 2 hours here (my dad could have spent much longer). If you're local to the calderdale area then it would be hard not to have a connection to one of the floors. It's obviously an industrial museum, but it is laid out beautifully to show off calderdale's rich history. The volunteers are exceptional, and are clearly passionate about the museum and calderdale. Not only that, but there are ALOT of volunteers which meant a lot of the time you got 1:1 talks and demonstrations. The £5 admission price is an absolute steal, they should be charging much more!! We had a pram with us, which meant a volunteer had to come up and down with us in the industrial elevator for health and safety reasons. They were more than accommodating, but I would recommend using a sling for any babies in the future. Cannot recommend this place enough,...

We were very pleasantly surprised at the variety and number of interesting things to see at this museum. The museum houses an amazing array of authentic, original exhibits from the 1700s onwards, in the subject areas of engines, water wheels, drilling machines, various looms, wire making, tool making, sock making and even a working toffee wrapping machine for Quality Street chocolates. The exhibits are explained and demonstrated by very enthusiastic volunteers with a lot of expert knowledge - several were available to talk to on each floor. There’s a lift so it’s accessible. It was an added bonus to get a cuppa in the cafe at the end. Cake was on sale too. The museum is next to the historic Piece Hall with its stunning architecture and relaxing ambience, and it’s just a stone’s throw from the train station. Highly recommended.

Popped in here with my brother in law as our wives were off shopping nearby. We only had 90 mins, which was woefully short. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly, and all volunteers. One of the best parts of the museum is the Quality Street wrapping machine, which, when demonstrated, wasn't even going full speed would take your fingers off if you weren't careful. Another is the looms. The noise from just one being run gave you a sense of the horrendous noise generated when 10,20, or 100 were being used at the same time. Alas, we ran out of time, but next time I visit relatives up here, I'll be sure to plan a proper visit.
