We visited the Tudor house as part of the Margate Museum ticket deal at £3 per adult for both attractions. We were greeted by an absolute salt of the earth guy named Ade, he constantly wore a beautiful smile and was super patient and kind to the children. He directed us on where to go then gave us more information. We first visited the cooking/ food room. Learned that it Tudor times sugar was 20 timers more expensive than beef. It was one of those information that you never expect to be true. The menu of daily food were displayed and more history was shared around the room on food growing habits and other things Tudors did. We then went to the hall and moved around the house to see the beauty of the Tudor architecture. As we went upstairs there was conveniently a table with drawings and colouring pencils for the kids to do their own colouring in work. It was such a great addition as it kept them occupied whilst my husband and I looked around the other rooms. Come to the textile room we met Pam, what an incredible lady. So full of talent and knowledge. It was a breath of fresh air! Absolutely beautiful place with exceptional architecture and to think that this house was almost going to be demolished. I'm so glad this Gen is open for the public to see and admire. From the textile room there is a staircase to the garden which is beautifully manicured and we'll landscaped. In the main hall part you can buy souvenirs...

As my neice had experianced the trauma of london .her son and herself came to us in ramsgate. As her father gfather great gfather had lived in margate we took them to the hse . On arriving it was closed but two groups of people entered the garden .i approached and asked whether they were opening .explained the situation and these two lovely helpful men cliff was one of there names .said rather cheekly no but we will for you . They gave us the most wonderful tour of this beutiful house and garden which is under going repair . A small tudor house, it is the staff that make it great. Friendly, knowledgable and keen to encourage visitors to learn more, especially the young. With such enthusiasm it is easy to appreciate the history of this property. One of the oldest properties in Thanet, there isn't a lot to see, so you only get the most out of your visit if you read all the available material and chat with staff on site. Whilst parents are reading the fact sheets and various information panels, children can colour in tudor pictures, dress up in Tudor costumes, and inspect the tudor garments (don't worry they are reproductions and so can be touched). Being an old house, there are stairs and no lift, plus a few very low beams, so do...

We visited on a Sunday afternoon, last entry was at 2pm. Very helpful and chatty volunteer at reception, lots of information notice boards including a set of tutor menus written in old English with the modern translation and the history of codpieces and origins of the term family jewels) The fireplaces were spectacular. You can wonder upstairs too. Definitely worth at least a 30 min visit and excellent value. Small shop inside selling souvenirs and bits and pieces

Small, restored Tudor house. Some history of the Tudors displayed inside, with original features. Not much to see, but at only £2 entry, worth a look if you're into history. Definitely worth a look if you're into dressing up, as one of the volunteers has a collection of reconstructed Tudor costume, which we had a great time trying on!
