Pan Asian Cusine in Margate — Restaurant in Thanet

First of all. Wow. So I visited margate. Had low expectations on the food front as with many seaside town visits I have made throughout the UK meals have been quick and on the go. But as we walked passed this little gem. We decided to sit and have an actual meal. So glad we did. My friend is a keen cook of Thai food. So this place really did have the food against them from the offset as my friends Thai food is sensational. But omg this place did not disappoint at all. Both myself and my friend decided to order our favorite starter each and our favorite rice dish each and our favorite curry dish each and ask for it to be placed in the middle with an additional plate each so we could try some of eachothers dish. We ordered the prawn tempura and spring roll as starters. They arrived quickly at the table. And were very well presented served with a sweet chilli dip and side salad. Found the flower on side salad a beautiful touch. This starter smelled amazing. Before the first bite I was salivating. Omg my taste buds got a treat. Not only were these cooked to perfection. These starters had a great balance of flavours. (Spring roll best I have ever eaten) I did not share these evenly. I ate 3/4 of the portion provided. Much to the dismay of my friend. They were that good. The prawns in the other starter were nice fat chunky prawns. Cooked with a great crisp coating and there was no grease from the flying of these. Perfectly executed of the very hot and very fast cooking this dish requires. For the mains we ordered a Prawn Thai green curry, a chicken massaman, jasmine rice and a coconut rice. My friend is famous for their massaman. So we were both preying it was as good as the one my friend cooks. And it was a very closely ran race the peanuts were a welcome texture but i like the added vegetables put into this dish when my friend cooks it. The star of the night was the prawn Thai green curry. We both were amazed at the flavour of this. Spent a vast portion of the conversation smelling and tasting a breakdown of ingredients to replicate this dish at home. The staff being wonderful and asking the chef for us if certain ingredients were in this dish. This meal as a whole was stunning and not a bad word can be said.. the atmosphere of the venue. The friendliness of the staff and their willingness to please was exceptional for the price...

First the positives - the kee nam mow with pork was amazing. All The food was cooked well. Here's the negatives. Ordered food at 7pm on a Friday, told to wait to pick up until 8pm which is long but apparently worthwhile. Arrived at 8pm to wait for 35mins as 3 other orders were given in front of us. Then they didn't close the lid on the soup so that spilled in the bag. Only 4 pieces of chicken in the Penang 'curry' which was lemongrass and coconut, the order asked us if we wanted 'medium or hot spice' on the phone, found 1 slice of chilli. Approximately 2 diced up green beans (no joke) and a load of thin sauce. The fishcake starter was tiny for the price although tasty enough. Chicken satay was identical to that in a Morrisons container. Half of the meals were put in the bag as we arrived, the other half 35mins later. The staff offered us 2 beers in compensation which is a nice gesture but from what was read above I cannot recommend ordering for takeaway but the dine in option may be better. Staff hospitable but only one chef and 4 waitresses made it cramped and chaotic. I'm honest in my review to give you a full scope of things. Unfortunately I have to give 1 star for this restaurant. First of all they forgot to give our prawn crackers which we have to ask for it. After an hour waiting for our food they told us that they don’t have sweet and sour anymore (which is for my 4 years old) and serve us the other 2 meals one is incorrect as well. We asked how long it’ll take to order a different meal they said it’s 30 minutes, 30 mins might turn another an hour again. I just don’t understand why they didn’t tell us this before! We ended up with one meal and just left. The stuff are not very friendly as well, they asked what’s wrong with the other meal when we already mentioned is incorrect and then asked as if we ordered the right one which I find really rude!
