Very disappointed. My husband and I visited for the first time today with 6 children 3 of our own, 2 we look after and my sons friend. One of the children we care for is only 4 and has Down syndrome and 2 of my own children have Autism and ADHD. Upon entry I said I need 1 adult and 6 children as I wouldn’t be playing as I would be helping the youngest with Down syndrome and knew there was no way I would be able to play and try and watch her too. But was told unfortunately if I accompanied her on course then I had to pay otherwise could sit on bench whilst my husband took her and 5 other children round including another 5 yr old. I explained she had Down’s syndrome and would need my help so I wouldn’t be able to play but they just said that was the company rules.
So if you are thinking of accompanying a person with a disability and not playing yourself I would go else where. I have taken large groups of children to other crazy golf places both down by the sea front and at manston and even without a child with disabilities. If I explained I wouldn’t be playing as had to watch them all they were perfectly fine about it.
I think a little compassion and understanding of disabilities would go a far way. Baring in mind not only could I not play but she wouldn’t be able to play properly and to be honest she got fed up half way round anyway and we both ended up sitting on benches.
It was like they couldn’t care less. I will be sticking to my usual places from now on plus you can get discount at...
Read moreThe tropical themed course itself is good, it's a 18-hole course which has terrain and bumps to influence the games as you go around. But around £8 a head I think is pushing it slightly for a place like Margate. Bring it down to £5/person.
The arcade upstairs I'm not a fan of as I think most arcades are naturally rip-offs and prey on addictive personalities. At the end of the golf course you have the (suspiciously easy) chance to win tickets for this in-house arcade — but of course the hope is you'll start playing and get carried away.
The golf course music and exotic ambience is top-notch and the lighting is great. Although the dim lighting probably hides wear and tear. The holes ⛳ could be more interestingly and more imaginatively designed in places, where are all the cool ornaments and objects that you'd expect on a crazy golf course?
Also, shaded accenting should be added on and around the bumpy terrain found throughout, as it's not very visible to the naked eye, and also poses trip hazards.
From the outside of the building it looks very tired (much of the Margate beachfront does). But a lick of fresh paint and a professional rebranding would go a long way!
PSA: Apparently the downstairs course is the more air conditioned option. During hot British summers this...
Read moreSo, it’s school holidays… what to do? We found this little gem in Margate. Indoor crazy golf, which is easily the best around! I took my 7 year old, and we loved it!! 18 (+1 special) holes set in a jungly, piratey decor, with lots of sounds and lights, including “tee-n-tee” and a cave with gems set in! The holes are not to difficult, so very enjoyable. It wasn’t too busy, and took about an hour to get through, but doesn’t feel like it. A big bonus is the little trolleys you can cart around for those with coats or jumpers or anything you don’t want to carry. The game we played had two levels (with stairs), and a special 19th hole where you can win tickets, which you can hand in the arcades downstairs with other tickets you win (which is also an amazing arcade, with very nice people to help you “if your prize get stuck in the penny drop machines”) If you want some good family fun, this is definitely one for the holidays (or anytime you fancy some crazy golf or some arcade fun). We will definitely be going back to take the rest of the family. I’d suggest you do the same! It’s...
