Brass Monkey Drummond Street — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I went on Sunday the 11th late afternoon , place was just another soulless modern day pub with a big tv screen like who wants to watch TV when they go down the pub ? It tries to be present the image of some kind of modern hipster joint. Uncouth young Irish sounding barmaid was f;';''g; and blinding at full volume because some punters asked her to change channels , she was swearing within full ear shoot of the customers and visibly irate. . There was one male customer before me and she saw I was waiting next however she went back to her swearing and sorting the TV. Then another women walked up to the bar and was served by the same member of staff. As its stated on here its not the first time self entitled sociopathic staff members have treated customers like this. The barmaid started giving off a boring explanation how she knew what she was doing and she had it under control ????? which is why I think she was probably tripping and the sociopathic tendency. I would recommend the Southsider over this glorified faux hipster pub. Better service professional bar staff and I'm sure cheaper prices. Terrible ugly soulless Millennial watering hole run without any real substance(but then again ?) trys and fails to be the kind of place you would find in Amsterdam. With the Millennial generation soon going to take over the world its just a shame that soulless places like this along with Weatherspoon's will seemingly be the future of pups in...

On Monday 31/08/20, around 15:30 me and my friend again visit that lovely place. We wait for a sit. When tall girl with dark blond ''pony tail'' came to us she didn't ask any think like, for example: how are you guys? nothing at all to any of us. We could see she is in not good mood but anybody can have worse day... With order I ask if I can swap mozzarella hot dog for vegan sausage with wasn't very important( I thing this new vegan sausage in brass monkeys is very tasty ) but the woman immediately says that no problem so I just finish my order and thank her. We were sitting some 3 maybe 4 meters from the till ,( I think on the table was old number 10 and on the wall 15) so we could see perfect and hear most of the conversation close to this till. She raise her voice, she sound at least not happy with us when she repeat a I thing 2 times unusual order she was moving in nervous ways and gesticulate by hand for me something ( with all respect and sympathy ) like many exited Italian people with I work with. I was thinking to leave before food is ready but I didn't want to make a scene. I felt very sad cos I didn't want to make such a problem for some of the stuff. Rest of the service was very professional and positive, Waiter with I think dark blond hair till around shoulders and maybe a bit shorter than previous lady. He did really lovely service and we told him to keep tip...

Had one drink and left after the attitude of the barmaids left me and my friend actually shocked. They seemed to be tending to people who were coming in after us in the centre of the bar while we waited and we thought it might have been because we were stood at the corner so after about 15/20 minutes of waiting and watching everyone else get served I asked one of the girls “is this a serving area?” Genuinely wondering incase we were at the wrong part and she gave a rude tone back “I’ll serve you in a minute” we were like okay… then another girl came over and served us with a really monotone/couldn’t be bothered attitude not a smile or any sort of happy customer service and ID’d us, I’m late 20’s and my friend is 30. Fully aware of challenge 25 but my friend who didn’t bring her ID stood with tattoos showing. Regardless she served me my alcoholic drink and served my friend a coke, defeats the purpose as it’s against the law to serve anybody without any proof of ID and also have under 18’s with no ID in a bar. The two barmaids proceeded to then talk about us loudly and laugh at my friend not having ID.
