A rather medicore cinema, given the choice of cinemas in Edinburgh the Odeon on Lothian Road is right at the bottom of my list. For those looking for a cinema nearby I would highly reccomend the Cameo Picturehouse, it has great atmosphere, a lovely bar and is far better than what the Odeon has to offer. The first issue: The prices - at nearly £15 a ticket I expect a far better experience than uncomfortable seats with no leg room and rude staff and an over all unwelcoming atmosphere that felt like a liminal space from the early 2000s. Secondly, the popcorn that was ordered was a large sweet and salted popcorn. Despite this, the popcorn was not mixed properly with the salted popcorn just dumped upon top of the sweet; upon asking the employees we were told that 'that's just how it's meant to be served'. The experience, costing £15, was not worth it whatsoever and I would reccomend to anyone to avoid this cinema. I don't think it's the staff members fault but there is a significant lack of leadership leading to a poor over all experience. For those looking for a cheap comfortable experience I would recommend the Vue at the Omni; or for some more ambiance I would suggest the Cameo...
Read moreI've only been here once and that was to watch Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. I'm visually impaired and was very nervous when I entered the building on my own. I didn't know where anything was, therefore, I didn't know where to go. Immediately, someone saw me with my long cane and came to help. He took me downstairs where I bought my ticket, some refreshments, collected an Audio Description headset and, as there where no wheelchair users at that viewing, he seated me in the wheelchair area. He made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed before going. At the end of the film he came back for me and took me back to the main entrance where he asked if he could show me to a bus or taxi. My taxi was late so he took me back into the building where I sat and waited and when it arrived he took me out to the taxi.
I would very highly recommend that anyone with a disability uses this cinema as the staff give you a very friendly and...
Read moreThe worst cinema in Edinburgh. Went to see IT 2 a couple of weeks ago and had to close the door to the screen myself in an attempt to drown out a horrible loud beeping sound from their alarm system. This was after having to go tell someone the lights hadn't gone down.
Gave it another try tonight. The seating was unreserved and they held everyone down in the lobby like cattle with no line order at all. When they finally let us in 15 minutes after the film was meant to start they didn't extend the screen, even after I told them about it. There was still rubbish from the previous screen in our drink holders.
Just spend the extra couple of quid somewhere else and have a...
