We went on Easter Saturday so it was really busy but we managed to find a parking space in a Council run car park. Two things about that place struck me.

Firstly that you didn't pay until you were leaving and that there were staff guiding cars into and out of the car park which made the whole episode less stressful.

We were quite late and I'm Diabetic so we had to grab a couple of things from a bakery and had to eat sitting on a bench. It was really tasty.

There were some really good shops including an excellent clothes shop called Brocklehursts selling brands like Barker, Barbour and Dubarry.

There was no shortage of pubs, cafes and shops. The whole place was busy so the next time...

The staff that run tourist information centre in Bakewell are priceless! Whilst staying in Bakewell we (inadvertantly) locked ourselves out of our accomodation, we had no 'phones or money on us as it was all in the property. The two staff who were on 08/02/2024 had no hesitation in helping us out. By wading through various websites they managed to track down and contact the owner who arranged for a key to be brought over, crisis over thanks to the two staff who were on that day. These two absolute diamonds saved our holiday. We couldn't have been more grateful. Bakewell would be lost without...

Approached a staff member to ask some information about Stanage Edge. The lady was stacking shelves and didn’t turn to look at me once or make any eye contact when I asked her a question. I might as well have been talking to a brick wall. After I’d asked my question she turned to me and responded in a very rude, condescending manner and looked at me as if I was an idiot. She was not helpful at all and I felt quite upset after. Why do they call themselves a tourist information centre if they treat tourists so rudely and aren’t willing to help at all? Will not...

This review is for the visitors centre itself. It's the old market hall. Look up at the ceiling to see an astounding old building. Found right next to one of the main roads , this is a great central point for information. Inside you have not only souvenirs, but an array of local information. Upstairs there's an interactive map to show you places all over the Peak District worth visiting. If you're a visitor, or even a frequent tourist, this place is the best to come for help, suggestions, ideas or even a simple map. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Bakewell was lovely, quite busy mind I suspose with it been the children's summer holidays. Plenty of shops gift shops and lots of places to eat and drink and lots of artisan shops down little nooks and crannys, plus traditional Bakewell puddings. A lovely walk along the river very pleasant, and there's a lovely park for the younger children. A pleasant town to visit, and very dog friendly.

Lovely visit to Bakewell yesterday. Worth a visit or stop off if you are passing by. Many artisan shops selling the food, teas/coffees, drinks, cakes and gift items. One of our favourites we came upon by chance was a small, tucked away sandwich shop called Relish. Soooooo worth the visit. The vegan and vegetarian sandwiches and rolls are worth the visit alone.
