Beautiful park, wonderful play area and plenty of open space for the grandkids to run around and kick a football.

However, I was not too pleased when I allowed my grandson to play in the water park area and 2 mins later just as he got all wet the water went off. All the children playing were dumbstruck. We waited about 10 mins then checking on line I found the play area shuts down between 12:30-1:30!!!! Just great! I see u have had issues with a local resident which I understand, but there were no notices to that effect and about 10 wet children were extremely disappointed. We were visitors to the park and I wasn’t very happy, my grandson even worse.

Who made up this daft rule? Who decided that signs to show this effect weren’t in place? And why, why why do you have to shut it for an hour in the middle of the day during a heatwave in school holidays?

An answer to these questions I await with...

Beautiful, gentle walk The river running through is still enough to see the fish and with swans, ducks and geese happy to pose for photos such a tranquil environment. Why only three stars then. Lack of toilet facilities. We visited two years ago and it was 20p for the toilets with no option to get get change( an attendant who does not supply change). The card reader machine was not working then and the same situation two years on. The queue for the ladies was long with around 15 people queuing on the pavement. An English treasure of a town not supplying...

0n a visit to the water park, with my 2 grandchildren we went to visit thd waterpark. They were very excited but sadly when we got there, all of the activities at the water park were switched off😭. I cannot understand why the council removed the paddling pool and replaced it with a few water fountains that do not work. This visit was during the school holidays. Does the council not understand how important it is for children to be able to have fun in the water park. Very very disappointed especially with 2 very...

Nice park right next to the river. Well looked after. 5-10 minutes walk from the town centre. Cricket club is within it. Toilets available ( charge of 20p ) Plenty of benches. Children's play area. Its not too big, you can walk around it in 20 minutes, but the whole area itself, by the river and the bridges, the ducks, all together make a collaboration of nature's beauty. Dogs allowed but on leads. Large car park found close by, other side of the river. Looks pretty, even in the rain.... !

Fabulous park set within the peak district with rolling hills and countryside surrounding the recreation grounds, lovely walking circuit along the riverside, cricket ground and pavilion,Bowls, table tennis tennis courts, children's play area, paddling pool, I would highly recommend a visit even if you just love the countryside views.. Let alone keeping your family entertained..its within easy reach of the town amenities..

A lovely relaxing outdoor area. Ive enjoyed walking along the river and around the park for years and it never gets boring. It is close to shops and parking. There's a walkway over the river to a parking area however during peak times of the year it is difficult to get parked so with like any popular rural place a little patience is required! Eating fish and chips by the river is the best part for me
