Good points: the food is relatively decent, standard cafe food. Panini's, sandwiches etc. Coffees are very good. Cakes and scones are all delicious. It quickly falls apart however. I would like to preface this by saying that we did attend on the day of the Christmas markets, so obviously it was busier than usual. However, the system of having one lady taking the orders, and then starting to make drinks etc was not working. From joining the back of the queue it was a good 15 mins before we got to the front. I can't believe you can't get one person taking orders while another starts making coffees or getting cakes from the stands. Really lacking efficiency here. Now here comes the biggest annoyance. The value for money is absolutely shocking. My sister is a vegan and ordered the vegan tuna roll. She took the top off only to discover that there was basically no filling in it. We asked the server (a lad, didn't catch his name but he was super nice) if she could have some extra, he went to ask and delivered a message from either the owner or the manager (apologies I can't remember) - that the portion size she got was correct, and that "the vegan tuna is expensive"(!) You wouldn't mind, but a single sandwich with half the filling missing, a tiny pot of coleslaw and a very unappetising salad is almost £9!!! We used to come here every time we came to Bakewell but it has gone so down hill the last few times. I'm guessing most of their business is based on passing trade given their location, so they have stopped caring about customer service and satisfaction.

The lime lounge café is situated out of the main hub of Bakewell & just a five minutes walk from the market , even at a slow pace !! & Is ideally situated to get away from the crowd's & is the ideal place for a good cup of tea , from the pot or a barista style coffee or even a glass of wine all at sensible cost for a tourist area ! . The lime also has a very good selection of food , all prepared fresh to order & it ranges from soup & sandwiches to panini & jacket potato options with fillings , plus the very tasty Derbyshire oat cakes which are a local speciality & I highly recommend the Derbyshire breakfast option for those with a good appetite as it has a good selection of local fayre on it of the highest quality e.g . Good bacon & traditional cheese & quality butchers grade sausage !! very nice with a pot of tea . They are plenty of options for the non meat eaters & for those with a sweet tooth as there is also a good selection of home baked sweets & cake options . The atmosphere is cosy & warm & relaxing & the decor is rustic & the combination of it's architectural past combined with vintage lighting features really do add to a intimate & cozy vibe , ideal for couples & families alike . The staff / owners are very welcoming & friendly & always make your visit a pleasant one . The lime is always a port of call when I visit Bakewell as it really is a good food , good service & a great value for money café . RECOMMEND SNACK BREAKFAST OAT CAKE .

One of only a couple of cafés open in the snow in Bakewell thanks to the Beast from the East - and I'm very pleased we chose this one. The interior is bright, vibrant, clean and cosy. As well as standard tables there are several comfy sofas and lower tables, great if you have children or dogs (it's a dog friendly café!) In the shelves by the door there are loads of books for all ages, local interest ones too, as well as blankets - if you're brave enough to sit outside in the current weather you'll need a couple! Service was friendly and very helpful - they checked up on a few ingredients for me to make sure I could eat their specials. They have specials that cater for lots of tastes, diets, and choices - including several gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options, all clearly labelled on the menu and special boards. Coffee was delicious, and served with a biscuit - nice touch. We overheard a table near us who weren't 100% happy with their drinks and the staff were very friendly, polite, and replaced them immediately. Lovely range of cakes too - again including gluten free option, as well as some sealed vegan/gluten free treats by the till so you can be confident they're safe from cross contamination. Toilets were spotless and well sized - often independent cafés have small cramped loos but these (including a disabled access toilet) were spacious and bright. A little gem!
