Poundbury Hillfort — Attraction in Dorchester

A short walk from the town, an easy walk around a small hill fort with amazing views. Only part of the fort is obvious at first though, and there are much longer works for the brave. Home of the Dorchester OTC (opposite the entrance to the cemetery) listening post, as well as a brick and concrete wartime listening post or firing range(?). Loved it. It is a beautiful place to take a walk including your dog, beware sometimes there are farm animals so keep your dog on a lead until you have had a look.

Reading other reviews moaning about wheelchair access? It's a Celtic Hill fort I'm not sure they took wheelchairs into consideration when they built it how many hundreds...

Beautiful iron age hillfort (with some Roman modifications) overlooking open country. Marvellous place to walk (with or without dogs!) - if you plan to walk up the ancient earthen banks stout footwear is recommended, especially getting down again - but the views are glorious. Free to enter...
