Really great museum with great friendly staff. Some fantastic displays on multiple levels all about the Dorset regiments. I'm biased as I really like uniforms but I love the uniforms with all the relative props from the era, such a great way to display the history. It's over 5 floors and short of the battlements with great views across Dorchester, every floors packed. I especially loved the gift shop as it wasn't extortionate like some museums so it's affordable to give the kids a reward. There's also some great interactive displays from handling real deactivated guns, battle table with soldiers, brass rubbing and colouring. Love this...

Hundreds of years of military history spread over four floors. The museum covers the history of the Devonshire Regiments and Dorsetshire Regiments from the their individual creations to their merger right through to modern day. One of the most thought provoking items was Hitlers desk. It was easy to imagine him sitting at the desk signing orders for troop movements or even the deaths of millions of innocent people. Then to the roof which is covered by decking. The views are amazing. A great way to spend a couple of hours and the entrance ticket allows a free return visit if used...

This was great. The price was very fair. Took my husband and 2 boys aged 6 and 12 it was over 4 floors. There was lots to do for the children found lots of interesting things to look at and they had things the kids could dress up in. there is a lift for those with buggies etc. Lots of stairs to walk other wise. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. There was a little game of hunt for the rat. Got a small prize after. It was well looked after and clean Would I recommend this place yes I would without a doubt....

Great museum of military history in Dorchester spread over four floors. Fantastic views from the roof. If you gift your admission your ticket is valid for 12 months so you can visit as many times as you like. There is a small car park at the rear and a pay and display car park next to it. The museum explains about the Devon and Dorset regiments from the past to the present. It also tells about the First and Second World wars including the Boer war.

This is a military museum based in the old keep at the top of Dorchester. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it has a lift to all three floors. True you can't access the roof but apart from that the museum is laid out well. I took my son in his wheelchair and had no problems moving around it. The exhibits are well designed and there is a trail to find both rats pictures and a list of objects to spot. A very enjoyable morning spent there.
