You've heard it before, and you'll hear it again... this is an experience you don't want to miss! We had the pleasure of staying in this fabulously quaint Tea House on Wednesday, 22nd May. As we arrived after hours, we didn't get to meet Deb until the morning, however we had a flawless entry on arrival and when we opened the door to our 4 poster bed suite we just smiled! What a gorgeous, almost 400yr old building. Yes, it has a few quirks, like the bathroom which has a step down in to the basin section (watch your head), and then it has another step down to the bath that has a hand-held shower nozzle. but it's all part of the wonderful experience! Come morning, after a very restful sleep, we headed down to the tea room for breakfast (which we didn't realise was included-score!).  Deb met us at the entry with a hug! This set us up for the most wonderful interaction over a delicious breakfast (table setting was high tea standard) in a gorgeous setting. We had the pleasure of having Mr Deb join us, and between all of us had the most jokingly good start to the day! Tales of smugglers, teases of tunnels underneath the Tea House, and priest holes hidden in the chimney. They kindly excused us Aussies for not knowing as much about Thomas Hardy as we should ;), filled in the history gaps, and even told us where Thomas's heart was buried! We enjoyed visiting that special place immensely! Parking was not a problem offsite at the Top O Town Carpark - just ensure you park in the long-term section. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit and pastries, cereal, yoghurt,  OJ, Tea, and barista made coffees, and that's all before being offered a fully cooked breakfast! Y.U.M.! Steps leading up to the suite are steep, but we managed with a suitcase and backpack each. The only complaint we have is that we wished we could have stayed longer! Thanks Deb also, for the delicious cake slices you sent us away with. We will never forget your beautiful soul and your generosity. Until we meet again, Pete and Bron

I don't like leaving anything negative but unfortunately this just was not good for me. We went for afternoon tea for my birthday but I was left disappointed. I was expecting a traditional afternoon tea. The menu mentioned an assortment of sandwiches , scones and cakes. Unfortunately not a single cake to be found, instead store bought macarons, eclair, meringue and panna cotta from Tesco! Unacceptable. In the front room they had delicious looking cakes but unfortunately we weren't offered any of them. The sandwiches were all meat, chicken and fish based. Not a single non meat or non fish option was offered. Nothing asked about dietary restrictions either, so I couldn't have any of those. When I think traditional afternoon tea, I think egg mayo, cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, scones and cake. Service was friendly but seemed rushed.

The Old Tea House was the best B&B experience we've had in a really long time. Debbie and her family were exceptionally welcoming, generous, and caring, from the scrumptious afternoon cream tea upon arrival to the beautifully packed lunch to send us on our picnic at Durdle Door the next day. The traditional English breakfast in the morning was also delicious and Debbie even told us where she kept the extra cakes so we could sneak some bites for a midnight snack to bring up to our room! Our tummies were so happy :) The room was also very spacious and comfortable. We'll definitely be back to the Old Tea House (next time bringing our parents, who would love the experience!) I recommend this place and the people without hesitation!

My wife and I have used B&B's all over the country and this was -One of the Best .|We had never been to Dorchester and now wish we had been before. |The Old Tea House is a historic building as you might expect.|Location -central Dorchester. No on site parking but very reasonably priced local authority car park 2 mins walk away.|There are only 2 rooms to let as far as we know .We chose the lovely suite which had a nicely furnished sitting room ,bedroom with 4 poster and ensuite bathroom. |Bed was super comfortable.|Debby is the owner and provided great service along with her son Jon and her grandson. Beware they can both chat for England but are very informative about the building and locality and service is great including an excellent breakfast.|The building is obviously listed and so modernisation would be limited. Quaint is probably the best description.|Complaints?-none really. The room got a little cool but nothing to complain about and rather than have expensive central heating switched on a couple of freestanding electric heaters are provided. One can be used for cooling in summer.|The bathroom can probably be described as 'tired' -perfectly clean but could do with a little attention .Taking a shower is a bit of a palaver without flooding the floor but not a big issue. |As the name suggests in addition to several previous uses over its 400years and current B&B it is a Tea House and we did have an excellent Cream Tea one afternoon.|Value for money ? Very reasonable.|We will go...
