If you have seen any of my previous reviews, you will know I try to fish out quirky museums.
This one, does not quite tick full on quirky, but if you collect mohair handmade teddies or just love all things teddy then you should go, plus you will be supporting business within the area. The lady within the museum was so warm and friendly and clearly enthusiastic about teddies.
The museum is split in two, downstairs is a museum dedicated to Chinese warriors and upstairs is the teddy museum.
I loved the mannequins which donned a teddy head and hands and look slightly odd, their are little rooms set up with a different teddy theme and goes into the history of teddies including a small display about Paddington and Sooty.
The rooms are quite small and think there were 11 people upstairs and did feel a little rushed to look through the different displays.
I sadly dont have any photos as they were not permitted and I conformed to the rules.
There was a deal where you could get entry into the dinosaur museum, Teddy Museum and The Egyptian Museum within the area.
Was it worth it????? Glad we experienced it, but unlikely to...
Read moreThe Dorset Teddy Bears Museum offers a quaint setting with a nicely laid out self-tour storyline to follow. Upon entering, one is greeted by a world of teddy bears with an interesting narrative to accompany the visit. However, the overall experience falls a bit short of expectations. While the children initially find novelty in the exhibits, their interest wanes after about 5 minutes.
One of the major drawbacks is the steep entry fee of £10 per person. Considering the relatively small size of the museum and the quick pace at which one can explore it, the price seems quite high. Even if one takes their time and drags their heels, the entire tour can be completed in about 15 minutes, leaving visitors feeling like they may not be getting their money's worth.
In conclusion, while the Dorset Teddy Bears Museum has an appealing layout and an engaging self-tour storyline, the brevity of the experience and the high entry fee may leave some visitors feeling underwhelmed. It could be a charming visit for a quick stop, but for the price point, visitors might expect a more substantial and...
Read moreI loved this place but so expensive for what it is which took the shine off it somewhat.
Only 2 out of 6 of us went in because of the price, had it been £5 we would have all gone in and more money would have gone through the till. The current admission is far too high for a couple of rooms worth of exhibits.
There seems to be a syndicate of smaller museums in Dorchester clinging to some ridiculous gold ticket scheme. It's a shame as none of them are good value on their own, and the museums are so different you are unlikely to find that they all interest you.
I honestly think all would get a lot more footfall if the price reflected the quality and extent of...
