Ive been a frequent customer here for a number of years with no complaints but my latest experience was terrible. I went for a meal on a Friday at around 5pm with my partner and our 4 year old son, couldn't find a table to sit down at due to the place being full of teenage school children. This Wetherspoons for some bizarre reason had a policy whereby they allow unaccompanied kids to spend time in their premises until 9pm each evening. Most of the kids were in school uniform and a small handful where sitting eating meals sensibly, but the majority of the teens were in large groups with only a couple of them having purchased a £1.20 refill hot drink. Eventually found a table to sit at but had to endure a constant stream of teens barging past in large groups so that ones of the group could refill a coffee while the others watched and laughed on. I used to think that this policy was a good idea for teens, however it is now clearly very popular with this age group and the staff appear to simply let them run riot. I will definitely not be revisiting for dinner any time soon as I am too old for a youth club environment!!...
Read moreIt is a Wetherspoon pub, so you know what to expect, mediocre food for a reasonable price.
Had to complain about my wife's meal though, in the middle of her chips we found a non chip item, turned out to be half an onion ring that had been cooked about more times than the rising sun has risen. This was brought to the attention of one of the Wetherspoon waiters, who apologised most profusely and confirmed that it certainly looked like an onion ring. I asked him to bring it to the attention of the kitchen staff and requested that they cleaned out there chip baskets between order, he left us never to be seen again. Why go to Wetherspoons I hear you say, I believe in their campaign for real ales and choice of drinks with the freedom to buy in from around the world, also the companies stance on the EUROPEAN Union debacle, what I don't believe in is their ability to deliver hot food to the table. This is all to often in not all but many...
Read moreI was in the pub on the night of the bad review about 11th March, below. A table was abusive to the wonderful staff, and members of the party assaulted staff in the pub. Why should pub workers be subjected to people throwing glassware and mugs at them, and then suffer bad reviews when some of their customers are only banned when they should have been arrested? This place is well run and the staff are wonderful. If you doubt that, then go and see how well they treat the non-aggressive customers. The beers are exceptionally well kept, as the staff are well trained and have to check all ales every hour. They offer exceptional value and have to put up with such rude and entitled people who get upset at not being allowed to bully and assault staff, so leave bad reviews. I am an occasional customer, not staff, and have never had a bad experience here. Try this pub and see...
