We visited this pub several times with family during our visit. It is a neighborhood pub where people know each other. They have a good selection of draft beer and many kinds of gin. We shared an order of traditional fish and chips. They were crispy and the fish was cooked perfectly.

Stopped by just for a snack at lunchtime…wow! My husband had the fish finger sandwich, which was amazing, I had a really tasty chilli jacket potato, which came with the most beautiful side salad, and really creamy coleslaw Fabulous food, lovely staff and great vibe. Thank you!

My wife and I stopped here for some lunch while in the area last Sunday and it was superb, the staff were lovely and welcoming and the service was great. The food was incredible and we went away very satisfied. I would definitely go back again.

Yesterday evening (12/12/18) a group of us went to The Folly for a pre Christmas meal and drinks... we booked a table for 7:30pm well in advance, yet there seemed to be no record of this anywhere for the staff and we were asked to prove our booking confirmation. We were then given a table that was marked as reserved for someone else but told that they might need it back later. It was very very cold in the restaurant and most people were still wearing coats. We sat and our drink order was taken and bought out swiftly. We looked at the menu and were disappointed that the specials board was merely a repeat of the limited menu rather than anything different, and choice was extremely limited for the vegetarian member of our group. About 30mins later our food order was taken, but food itself took over an hour to arrive. Thankfully it was all pretty tasty. For the rest of our time there we received no service whatsoever. No more drink orders, no dessert menu, no table clearance, we even had to seek out staff to pay the bill. The young lady bought our bill over and we asked her to stay as we were ready to pay immediately. We paid part card and the rest in cash. We were due some change so waited while she took the money to the till. Except she then didn’t come back... and eventually started clearing a separate table. It was only when I approached the male member of staff working and informed him that we were waiting on change that he prompted her to get it for us. I asked to speak with a manager and he told me that there was none available but he could help me. I listed our grievances and his response was “well what do you expect me to do about it”.

So our night can be summed up as terrible service, ok food, and what really amounts to an attempted theft... it will be a long time before I consider trying there again and will be actively warning others who ask for...

Have enjoyed many of the carvery Sunday roast in the Folly Upstairs and so was happy to book for a Sunday roast downstairs in the absence of service Upstairs. Very disappointed. Food was way off the quality of carvery and instead of an excellent choice of up to 5 vegetables were served with peas and carrots frozen mix. Yorkshire puddings were burnt on top. Definitely not up to...

Lovely outdoor area, coffee was lovely- my only negative feedback is the fact that the man serving looked miserable and like he wasn’t enjoying himself, a smile and a warm welcome would go a long way especially as he was serving his customers. We’ll be visiting other places before we consider...
