Eastbourne Bandstand is a gem on the Sussex coast — a striking seafront venue that blends historic charm with vibrant musical life. Built in 1935, its distinctive blue domed roof and art deco design make it one of the most recognisable landmarks in Eastbourne, and it remains a focal point for live entertainment throughout the year.
The Bandstand hosts an impressive variety of events, from traditional brass bands and tribute acts to themed nights and fireworks concerts. Whether you're into swing, classical, or Queen, there's likely a performance for you. The sound quality is surprisingly good given the open-air setting, and the tiered seating ensures a decent view for most audience members. It’s particularly magical on warm summer evenings, when the music mingles with the sea breeze.
Staff are friendly and well-organised, and ticket prices are reasonable, making it an accessible evening out. The location is ideal too — just a short walk from Eastbourne Pier, with ample nearby parking and local amenities.
That said, the weather can be unpredictable, and while the covered seating offers some protection, dressing for the elements is wise. Also, during busier events, the seating can feel a bit cramped.
Overall, Eastbourne Bandstand offers a wonderful blend of nostalgia, community spirit, and first-rate entertainment — a must-visit for music lovers or anyone looking for a quintessentially British...

Read moreA British summer is not complete without a visit to the iconic Eastbourne Bandstand. Having played there two or three times this year, I was delighted to be in the audience twice last weekend, once on Friday night to see the excellent Gatsby's Jukebox, and again on Sunday afternoon to rest my weary legs and soak up the traditional atmosphere of a great British band - The Royal Corps of Transport Association Concert Band - on one of the best-loved seafronts in the country. For a paltry £3.50 (Sunday afternoon) you can sit in the sun or the shade, upstairs or below decks, and either relax and be entertained, or get up and groove about, as the mood takes you. It's one of those rare places where anything goes, and all are welcomed. And the staff seem to be having a much fun...
