Fabulous beachside bar, I spent several happy afternoons here on my recent visit to Eastbourne. The drinks were great, the service was great, it is right by the sea, what more could I ask for! Okay, so here's the thing. One more thing I could have asked for... and alas did, when, in a rush to get back to my apartment to go out that evening, my keys slipped out my hand, flew into the air, and fell down a crack in the decking ...without touching the sides. Several customers saw what happened and gasped. And the answer I got from West Rocks Beach Club...? Tony, the boss, snapped into action, with tools and a hurried determination. After several failed attenpts, he eventually loosened then lifted high one of the decking planks still secured at both ends, while a lady customer volunteering the thinnest fingers, very deftly retrieved my keys. I thought the keys were gorn for good; they were back with me... within 10 minutes! :) Tony had been the perfect host throughout already... But this (though I don't recommend finding out) shows what an absolute star he is. Thanks Tony!...

Tony’s been making mine for longer than I can remember. He’s got that no-nonsense approach — straight to the point, professional, but with a sharp memory for his customers and a quiet pride in what he does. You feel seen.
There’s something to be said for that kind of consistency. It’s not flashy, but it’s real. A proper brew, a calm view of the sea, and someone behind the counter who knows your order without needing to ask. That counts for more than...

It was obvious that seated customers were being given priority. There was no reason I could see that the customer service needed to be so shoddy and lacking. A simple acknowledgment would have helped and sorry about the wait. While waiting a few others also decided the wait was ridiculous and went elsewhere. Very poor. Plenty of other places will be grateful of the custom so I will be taking my...
