My partner and I visited here, we were very disappointed with the whole experience. My partner manages a Michelin Star restaurant and the service, food and attitude was just completely unacceptable. We left the restaurant upset, and feeling sick. We were a walk in booking over the weekend, the restaurant was completely apart from 1 table when we arrived and we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience by the front of owner/chef, he even refused another walk in when we were sat down, stating they had room for pizza only. There was a lovely young Italian waitress who was trying to serve us but the owner/chef kept taking over and was quite frankly being rude to the staff and us. My partner ordered a Negroni for drinks, and I ordered a non-alcoholic beer. The Negroni tasted diluted and pre-made, which is not what you expect for a restaurant of this standard, particularly when the restaurant is quiet. We got a mixture of starters, the bruchetta, parmigiana balls and meat Arincini. The Bruchetta was burnt and dry just some chargrilled bread with some tomatoes the parmigiana balls were flavourless and overcooked. The arincini was actually okay. For mains I have the Risotto Gamberetie E Zucchine, it was tasteless and watery, reminded me of rice pudding. Plus the prawns had no flavour and the whole meal did not taste right. My partner had the the Paccheri Ai Frutti Di Mare, the pasta did not taste home-made and the seafood was frozen and bland, and the dish was overly fishy and did not taste right. The dish had no flavour and was not edible. We both only had a few bites to eat of each main dish. We were made to feel uncomfortable to say much about the dishes as the owner kept speaking about us whilst we were sat down. My partner asked for the dishes to be packed as we felt really uncomfortable in saying. The nice Italian waitress came to us after the dishes were taken away, she spoke to me discreetly about not liking the meals, I told her it was not nice and I felt uncomfortable saying, she apologised and was really lovely about it. She went and spoke to the owner/chef about us but he responded to her quite angrily then came over to us to take payment, making us feel even more uncomfortable. They also charged a service fee which seemed to be more money than necessary. Honestly the whole experience was just really upsetting and would not...

Many Rang ahead to mention it was a big birthday for my mum and was promised something would be done to help us celebrate, yet they forgot and my mum opening cards when waiting didn't seem to even prompt them to remember When we reminded them, they offered a scoop of ice cream with a candle, but when it arrived, it was just one very average scoop of vanilla without a candle or the server even wishing a happy birthday, and we were THEN CHARGED FOR IT! We were absolutely shocked to be charged for a birthday treat. Never ever had this happen before! My mum was sitting alone for 30 minutes when waiting for us and she wasnt even asked if she wanted a drink Two of the three meals were burnt in places. One requested meal also unavailable Very poor attentiveness - inc. didn't ask if food was ok and no reply when we pointed out the burnt food
It put such a negative feeling in the entire day which had otherwise been so special.
We didn't order a lot on this occasion, but how could we possibly want to come back after such an experience. We feel we really shouldn't have been charged anything after the experience we had.
If the restaurant would like to discuss this with us further or have any questions we are willing to hear from them.
— Anyone reading this, don’t trust their reply. Our response. — We asked for flexibility when booking and then moved back an hour. Our first member of our party arrived a couple of minutes after the new time My mum was not instructed to wait and no-one helped her or directed to her. She did not just jump to our table. No one asked how our food was. The food was burnt and the lasagne was the size of a starter and may have been microwaved. Is 70th not special enough for a “special occasion”??? No apology. No admittance of fault....
Read moreFirst time here today. Stumbled upon the place whilst trying to escape the crowds in town. Very calm atmosphere and, perhaps most importantly, no Christmas music belting out of the speakers.
I was dining with my wife, as well as my two small children. My children were made to feel especially welcome. The staff made a fuss over them both, and were happy to entertain then by pulling funny faces as my wife and I perused the menu.
Then the food came. This place just continued to impress me. I ordered one of the Calzones and it was huge. It was accompanied by a delicious tomato sauce, a chilli infused oil and some pre-grated parmesan cheese in a bowl. I had already been provided with a special pizza knife and set about tucking into this magnificent feast. I had a very happy tummy by the time I was finished.
This place ticked just about every other box too. The toilets were clean and well stocked. There was an outside area but, since it was December, we ate inside. The tables were roomy and the chairs were comfortable. The only slight niggle was that there are some steps that have to be negotiated upon entering the restaurant. They were fairly easy to overcome with a push-chair but could potentially pose a problem to anybody with mobility issues. That said, I didn't investigate any further and there might be another entrance or something. I'm sure that the staff would be willing to assist in any way that they could buy it could be worth calling first if you have any special needs that need to be addressed.
Well done to all of the staff. You're clearly appreciated by your employers and this came across in the genuine level of excellent service that we received today. Thank you...
