This is an exceptional and stunning place to visit and a true masterpiece that offers a fantastic look at nostalgia and offers a lovely wonderful trip down lane from recent periods of history. The museum is predominantly a walk through and is laid out a very easy to understand and very intriguing and interested that keeps you excited and captivated throughout your visit. Visitors can wander down an old Victorian Street and look inside the shops and see the posters from around giving you a great look at nostalgia but also the sights and smells of life at the time from a social point of view. Visitors can see a Steam engine locomotive by the name of Patricia up close which is in phenomenal condition but also adds a nice quirkiness to the place and leaves you stunned at something of is size being able to fit inside the premises but it is still astoundingly good nonetheless. You can wander into a WWI Trench give you the harsh realities of military service from that time. There are a number of fantastic military artefacts such as Service medals and uniforms you can see in the display cabinets, which are in amazing condition. There are a number of intriguing artefacts inside the shops on the Victorian Street giving you that yesteryear and nostalgic feel. The best of the displays has to be the Victorian Street as it so vividly lifelike and gives you a feel of a street teeming with life from that time and also it provides a nice reminder of the Victorian Village at the former site of Flambards, which is now sadly closed but for people in the South West this place can now provide a nice alternative to it and relive that nostalgia and memories plus the Victorian Street is also full of charm and character adding to those memories. There are some information displays set within the main displays detailing social life from yesteryear, which is very interesting. There is a cafe on site selling a range of food and drink at reasonable affordable prices and the shop sells a great of souvenirs at affordable reasonable prices. Overall this is a stunning, sensational and lovely nostalgic place to visit which makes for a great and amazing day out to relive those memories of yesteryear and other periods of history in the past. Definitely a place worth a visit...
Read moreI absolutely love this place! I visited yesterday and easily spent over 2 hours there enjoying the endless nostalgia over the 3 levels of quality displays and scenes. I ate in the Cafe which admittedly is a bit expensive with a very limited menu of only sandwiches. However, I chose the cheese and pickle sandwich with a choice of bread (white or brown) served with a side of crisps and I must say it was very enjoyable, especially as the grated cheese is freshly grated so there was none of that powdery starch. It's a shame the cafe is only accessible if you have paid to visit the museum as opposed to none museum visitors being able to eat there. After eating an enjoyable lunch I enjoyed the rest of my visit equally as much as the first part of the museum before you get to the Cafe. The best bit by far is the shopping scene on the ground floor with an extensive range of shop windows to look into and spot days gone by items such as grocery and apothecary products (not purchasable). I can't wait to visit again in future years...

Visited with family and expected much less than what I saw.
What an amazing collection of nostalgic items spanning back through time.
The recreated Victorian shops were amazing, such a high level of detail. Add in the smells and sounds too and it was a sensory delight that took you back in time. I had to sit on the bench in the town square and just take it all in.
Lots of interactive parts too. Some that I probably missed as I didn't see the buttons until later in the tour. Too many other interesting things to look at.
Cafe was lovely, reasonable prices and incredibly friendly service. A delight!
Cannot forget the train... an entire train.. just there, mind blown!
Seeing an original sign from my hometown 320 miles away was a nice surprise too!
So much care and attention to detail has gone into this entire experience. I loved the story behind its beginnings and how it has continued to thrive to this day. Long may...
