My wife Garibaldi and I had a very pleasant walk along the coast path from Teignmouth to Oddicombe passing through wild meadows and the valley of the rocks witnessing peregrines and all sorts. Our final destination was Oddicombe and what an utter shocker of a place it is. Public conveniences that are anything but convenient with prison style turnstile gates charging 30 pence a turn and an over emphasis on people waddling around not doing very much apart from smoking, eating and drinking. Little traditional beach fare happening due mostly to the predominance of the eye hurting cafe. The staff I met were all superficially friendly but there was an undercurrent of something I didn't like but I couldn't really put my finger on it. Garibaldi said it's because I'm quite an anti-social person myself and I do not like any people really. Apart from...

Probably the best spot in the Bay! Beautiful, tranquil, full of amazing wildlife, popular for sea swimmers, sailing, kayaking, sheltered, good amenities and lovely cafe/ restaurant, shop for nik naks/ inflatables, accessible via unique cliff railway. Kayaking, peddlo and other watersports hire available in summer, good service, pretty reasonable rates to. No parking in summer but generally find a spot in winter. Beautiful walk down if you're able, but it's steep, either via steps adjacent to the cliff railway or a single lane road that winds its way down. Beach is Mix of pebbles and sand, beach shoes advised for comfort if on a beach day out with the kids. There are steps at top of beach to sit on if preferred. Even has a museum down there. Its a great beach, just a very...

We reached the beach at 6:30pm after 4.5 hours of long drive from London and when we reached there we walk down to the beach using a zigzag path through the trees which was an adventure for whole family, even for 4 year old. Upon reaching the bottom, we found we were at different end of it so we have to walk to find the sandy part of the beach which was a small walk. After 10 mins we all were at the sandy beach area and it was really misty (as you can see in the pictures) but weather wasn't cold or chilly so we stayed for two and half hours and everyone really enjoyed it. I got a chance to take some amazing pictures, by the way there are not filters applied to any images and the blue colour is the reflection of water...

Lovely walk through the cliffs which added to the experience rather than taking the funicular railway. However, the lady at the ticket office seemed really friendly and we're glad this transport option is here as my mum used it as the cliffs are steep to walk through. Beach is lovely, in particular the red sand and cliffs. Only downside for us was it was quite cold and windy so couldn't enjoy the full experience of being at the beach. Also it is quite a small beach to sit at. Worth going to see for an hour or so in warm weather. Staff trained my brother to kayak and soon enough he was out in the distance kayaking away 🙂 Recommendation would be to have lockers to keep clothes/bags in while taking part in water activities.
