An iconic model village and gardens, which is a true masterpiece and is extremely enchanting, captivating, charming and magical and certainly the best Model Village in the UK without a shadow of a doubt. The small buildings and characters are fabulously presented and the attention to detail in their presentation is just simply breathtaking and phenomenal and the model village blends in beautifully with the gardens and the scenery of the local area with a stunning amount of amazing colour, which is awesome. The buildings and characters on show range from small villages and towns some with a modern and old twist to give you that taste of wonderful English traditions. Examples of the buildings are The Womble Stadium, Royal Crescent from Bath, Train Station, Cornish/Devon Fishing Village, Old English Village and Modern Town and a Castle, New Housing Estate Developments, Celebrity Mansion, Dragon breathing Fire above a Castle and Mockington and all of these displays and buildings are simply stunning and sensational with a outstanding attention to detail. The best of the displays is the Dragon breathing fire above the Castle as it is amazingly interactive and engaging and to get the Dragon to breath fire there is a nozzle to slowly turn and the Royal Crescent, Bath as it is brilliantly lifelike to the real thing. There is an informative display about the history of the Model Village how it started and evolved and changed over time, which is very interesting and great with further great display particularly the Snowy scene and Eastenders display. The usual visiting time is between 1.5 to 2 hours and you can go around as many times as you like so the best advice is to get around slowly to ensure you take everything in and see it as you will not be disappointed. Other great areas are The Mythical Kingdom where you can see an enchanting and magical display of mythical creatures which are breathtakingly displayed. You can wonder onto the roof of the Pavilion Cafe and enjoy amazing views of the whole site and admire the amazing scale of it and how the different displays blend in beautifully with each other. The other great thing about the place is the fact that are constantly adding new displays with a display dedicated to European places planned later this year, which is sure to be amazing. There are also some outstanding displays of the flowers which have an amazing array of colour. There is a cafe with am excellent range of food and drink at reasonable prices and there is a gift shop with a great range of souvenirs at reasonable prices. Overall this a truly magnificent and amazing place to visit and makes for a magical and wonderfully memorable day out. This is definitely well worth a visit...
Read moreI came here when I was little and only remembered bits but new it was a fantastic place. So much so it was planned when we booked to go to Torquay. So much to do and see when we arrived it was great to see it expanded from 15-20 years ago so much so that it was like a new experience for me even the kids really enjoyed it the one child I thought I we would have issues with was our special needs child who is very vocal if he disapproves and out of the three he was the best behaving he loved the moving models and our eldest loved looking for the alphabet people even my partner who was sceptical really enjoyed her day so much so we got the free return to the night to see the lights (valid purchase of day visit pass will get the original people back in for free you photo will be taken in the gift shop at the end) and wow everything changes at night the village comes alive during the day visit we missed inside alot of structures as it was too bright for example one of the first models you will see looks like a mansion party but in the night can you spot the escaping man from his lovers room! There is so much comedy factors that makes it special for the adults but not to crude for the younger kids. There is also a 4D cinema (little bit extra) was great for the day visit as it only lasted 15 minutes but was a great break for the kids and the characters from the film was Alos in the model village which you need to find. This is a lovely place from young to old and great for the ones in the middle too set in a lovely gardens surrounded by a lovely area we will return in the future. Enjoy some of our snaps we took but to full appreciate it visit this...
Read moreWarning: visiting Babbacombe Model Village will make all other model villages seem pathetic by comparison. Now, although I am a bit of a nut for models and miniatures, this attraction absolutely blew me away. My impression of model villages was that they often look tired, small, and a bit too quaint. This took me totally by surprise. The whole place oozes passion, everything is clean and well looked after. The small team here clearly loves the work they do; everything is constantly maintained, the greenery is exceedingly pruned to perfection, and not one ounce of scenery seemed in need of TLC. All of the sets are finely detailed, and there are plenty of little things to notice about each scene if you take your time appreciating the craftsmanship. Keep an eye out for puns galore on all the business names, and the amusing antics of the model villagers. Halfway around, there is a fun crazy golf course (included in the entry price) to break up the monotony of walking, and to let younger guests let off some steam. The newest installation, the indoor "Mythical" section, is a testament to attention-to-detail and painstaking model-making. I cannot stress how interesting this attraction is! The café serves hot food until about 3pm, plus nice coffee. I will say, the menu is a bit lacking, and the pizza is just (as far as I can tell) supermarket-bought Chicago Town, but there are paninis and sandwiches available too.
P.S., book your tickets in advance to receive a small discount, and remember that you pay on the door, not via the website. Also, the entire site is card only, so don't...
