These gardens are for the peaceful use of adults (No children or dogs permitted as per the covenant on the gardens). Tessier Gardens is most definitely not for loud, obnoxious, rude wedding groups (Mr & Mrs Ling) who think youâre entitled and privileged to be able to move into each area and huff and puff at others as a way to try and intimidate them to move. You had children within your wedding party who should not have been within the grounds. You also were not behaving in a calm manner which is expected within the gardens so they are of enjoyment to all. Your photographer continuously shouting for people and you all out-shouting each other spoilt the tranquility of the gardens. If you wanted a private venue for your wedding photographs, there are plenty of beautiful private gardens which you can hire for the duration of your photographic session and if your photographer had an ounce of decency, he would have guided you to somewhere suitable, where you wouldnât be stepping on the toes of others. Of course, private gardens make a charge and so maybe you couldnât afford anywhere else BUT even if you are cash-poor, it doesnât give your guests from afar, the right to ride roughshod over locals. Maybe your photographer knew what a tight budget you were on and so thought he would help you âwing-itâ at Tessier Gardens. However your wedding party spoilt the enjoyment for other users of the gardens. In 1933, the sun temple was constructed in the gardens as a recognition of the generosity of Mrs H.A Tessier giving the gardens to the town âfor the use of adults only.â It is not a focal point for wedding photos, but a nod to the lady who created the wonderfully calm and tranquil area for enjoyment. The very idea of the place is that you can step through the gates and away from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy the sanctuary of calm... however YOUR wedding group ABUSED the facility. DISRUPTED the tranquility, stomping around like a herd of elephants, with a shouting photographer and screeching women, men hollering and guffawing, children cackling and have the nerve to complain about the bathing lady who had been there when my Father and I arrived, long before yourselves came to spoil his enjoyment. He described you as being âhooligansâ, and said you have no respect. I have shown him the newspaper with the complaints from your guests and he was dismayed. He says you should be locked up as even the squirrels ran for cover. He also cannot understand you taking umbrage with the sunbather. He asked âDo you expect the gardens to be closed to locals who have lived here all of their lives, so you have exclusive access to them?â
For us, our afternoon was spoilt by these animals who feel entitled to use a public space for their own selfish purposes. The park itself was as beautiful as always although the sun is obviously attacking everything it can. I have seen newlyweds on the gardens before and they enjoy the gardens along with everyone else, whilst having photographs along the way but this obnoxious bunch made their intolerably loud fuss in one area, then stampeded to another with children zooming along in front before they stopped and the shouting, screeching, guffawing and hollering started once more. My Father is rather infirm and a walk around the gardens when I visit is something he looks forward to. He has an amazing garden of his own but Tessier Gardens is the change of scenery he needs, he loves the squirrels and birdsong.
Maybe itâs time to ban groups of more than eight people from the park? Iâm sure that would exclude any troublesome groups. One person can spoil the enjoyment for others but when that is amplified by more of the same,...
