A beach a fair hundred feet or so below the promenade that is accessible by either a steep steep road with limited space at the bottom with pay and display, you can also walk down steps embankments and steps which is a rough walk down. It is a very difficult walk at times. The best option for those with walking difficulties is the cliff railway. At a cost of £2.10 per adult in July 2020 one way the return visit is £2.90. There is Babbacombe Beach and Oddicombe beach linked by a walkway and steps. Both are predominantly stone beaches with a very pleasant gentle open into the sea. In summer especially at weekends many boats are moored up with people and dogs aplenty. There are toilets at both (free, but you may have to queue) there is a cafe and shops (Oddicombe Beach) beach access is by steps and slope once down the road path or cliff railway. The walk up is very tough indeed. Great place to relax take a drink down with you. Above around the promenade there is a theatre great fish and chip shops ( Hanburys is nearest then Drakes and The Usual Place is a bit further out)) a few pubs (Babbacombe Inn and The Buccaneer as well as the Royal Court Hotel) as well as cafes too there is a wonderful place that does cream...
Read moreThis beach was recommended to us by our hotel and it didn't really live up to expectations. Firstly if you are of a nervous disposition getting to the beach in a car could be hairy. It's a narrow and very steep approach with room for only 1 car. If you make it to the car park without incident it's fairly small so come early to avoid disappointment and a hairy drive back up the narrow road. Parking can be cash or card. The approach to the beach is a 5-6 min walk over a bridge and rocky path so beware of with elderly adults or kids it could be a challenge. Once you arrive at the beach it's nice enough albeit quite small. There are large steps where you can out down a blanket or pop up chairs. I saw beach huts but not sure if these are owned or can be rented. The beach space is quite small owing to rock falls further down the beach due to erosion. Part of the other side is almost cut off but can walked whilst the tide is low. Now that I've been I probably would not go again but glad I went to the trouble...
Read moreNice little beach that’s dog friendly 🙂 there’s a bit of a concrete pier and there’s a pub right alongside it, the access road is a 30% incline with some bends along route with only a small car park at the bottom.. so tbh it’s nice yet not a lot there yet it is a nice little spot to go to.
Myself and family walked down from Babbacombe cliff railway which actually takes you too oddicombe beach ( clearly numerous people mix them both up from photo and reviews here ) anyhow... after walking down we walked along the paths and bridges from Oddicombe to Babbacombe which was a nice walk along, the walk up though it’s quite steep so if your no good at walking steep roads heading back to the cliff railway might be a...
