A nice park with a few distinguished areas to discover. I love parks specially in England where they tend to have a decent wide green area. Well situated in the middle of town where they can play a big role as a community space. A place to feel in contact with nature, to breath and absorbe positive energy overlooked by massive old trees. Chalkwell Park has two play areas one for toddlers and another for older children, which to my taste it is too close to a busy part of London road, therefore exposing the children to the traffic fumes and noise. An area for teenagers and young people who enjoy skates and bmx. Next to them a couple of basketball courts and four tennis courts. The latter would need payment and registration to access with a fob. A massive field on one corner of the park serves a cricket club and the local school as sports area. There are public toilets open by the London road entrance and two cafes which offer some kind of community service by having space to hire for private events or next to some facilities for social and community clubs. Other more excluded areas to feel more in nature with ponds and more vegetation and others with well looked after flowers and benches to seat and read a book or contemplate the clouds. I normally take my dog here on a walk and always find it to be an enriching experience, helping connect to the natural beauty of the park. The rose garden is always a pleasant walk, filled with beautiful views of nature and flowers. The playground is amazing for kids, and older ones to. An assortment of swings and slides make it a must visit for parents.
