I recently had the pleasure of dining at Red Chilliez in Southend, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience! The food was absolutely delicious and authentic, with every dish packed with flavor. We ordered a variety of dishes: Malabar Biryani, Prawns 65, Kerala/Malabar parotta, Butter Chicken, and paysam/kheer – each one was a standout. The biryani was aromatic and flavorful, the prawns were perfectly cooked, and the parotta was light and flaky. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, and the paysam was the perfect sweet ending to the meal.

A special thanks to Joemon (Owner) and Jithin who served us food, they were both incredibly welcoming and attentive. They even customized the spice levels for my 2-year-old daughter, ensuring the food was mild yet delicious. I also appreciated their weekend offers, which made everything so reasonably priced.

Overall, Red Chilliez is definitely worth the visit, and I’ll be coming back for more! Highly recommended!

Avoid a takeaway from this place. After ordering our food, leaving a number for the delivery person and being told it would take up to 50 minutes, one hour later the food still hadn’t arrived! We were told the delivery driver had tried calling as they couldn’t find the address and the manager promised to call back within a few minutes. No call and the phone was left off the hook for 40 minutes! Two hours after my initial order was taken, I called the mobile number on their website and surprise surprise the manager answered. He knew who I was straight away, apologised for the food not being delivered and that the driver returned 30-40 mins ago! When I questioned him why he didn’t call me back as promised or at least to inform me about my delivery he didn’t want to answer it or admit any fault. After waiting over two hours for the food he said he would cook it again and deliver it but we would have to pay £15. He then became argumentative as though it was us in the wrong. Never have I experienced such poor service and at the prices they charge! Do yourself a favour and stick to your usual...

The menu is a celebration of authenticity! From the excellent starters to a super selection of mains, every dish was a reminder of God’s Own Country—rich in flavor, tradition, and heart.

The starters were packed with bold, fresh spices and beautifully presented. The mains didn’t disappoint either—generous portions, cooked to perfection, and true to the cuisine’s roots. You can tell that real care goes into every dish here.

The service was warm and attentive, striking that perfect balance of professionalism and a relaxed, friendly vibe. The team made us feel right at home.

PS: Don’t be misled by others using a similar name—this is the only restaurant they have, and it’s in a league of its own. We’ve had some confusing experiences with a takeaway in Basildon that doesn’t represent the same quality or ownership. This place is the real deal—and well worth the visit.
