Having frequented Rollerworld Derby since my teenage years in the mid-1990s, revisiting this iconic roller skating rink was like stepping back in time. With fond memories of carefree days spent gliding across the smooth wooden floors, I returned with a mix of nostalgia and anticipation to see how Rollerworld had evolved over the years.

Ambiance: Despite the passage of time, Rollerworld Derby retains its vibrant and energetic atmosphere. The familiar sights and sounds greeted me as I stepped through the doors, instantly transporting me back to my youth. The colorful lights, pulsating music, and lively chatter of skaters created a dynamic ambiance that was both exhilarating and inviting. While the décor may have been updated over the years, the essence of Rollerworld's charm remained unchanged, making it a timeless destination for roller skating enthusiasts of all ages.

Facilities: Rollerworld Derby boasts an impressive array of facilities designed to cater to skaters of all skill levels. The expansive skating rink offers plenty of space to glide, spin, and practice tricks to your heart's content. For those seeking a break from the action, the arcade area provides a welcome diversion with a variety of classic and modern games to enjoy. Additionally, the snack bar offers a selection of refreshments to refuel and recharge between sessions on the rink. While the facilities may have undergone updates and renovations over the years, the commitment to providing a fun and safe environment for visitors remains steadfast.

Memories: As I laced up my skates and hit the rink, a wave of nostalgia washed over me, bringing back a flood of cherished memories from my teenage years. I recalled the thrill of mastering new skills, the camaraderie of skating with friends, and the excitement of themed skate nights and special events. While the faces may have changed and the music evolved with the times, the sense of joy and camaraderie that permeated Rollerworld Derby remained constant, reaffirming its status as a beloved community hub for generations of skaters.

Price: While the cost of admission may have increased slightly since my teenage years, the value provided by Rollerworld Derby is undeniable. With affordable rates for skating sessions, equipment rental, and arcade games, Rollerworld remains accessible to individuals and families alike, ensuring that the joy of roller skating remains within reach for all.

Overall Impression: In conclusion, Rollerworld Derby holds a special place in my heart as a cherished childhood haunt that continues to delight and inspire. From its vibrant ambiance and state-of-the-art facilities to its enduring sense of nostalgia and community spirit, Rollerworld Derby is more than just a roller skating rink—it's a timeless destination where memories are made and friendships are forged. Whether you're reliving the glory days of your youth or introducing a new generation to the joys of roller skating, Rollerworld Derby is sure to leave a lasting impression that will keep you coming back for...

Best thing about this place was leaving!

The Dj absolute pants!! Unless your 15 you wont know any of the music, the occasional older song i assume by request! He needs to relise its not ibiza! But a wooden shack in derby!

The cafe haha well the part of the hall that ressembles a greasy spoon! Paid £1 for a can of coke expected, food all over the floor and tables and no where to sit as the teens instigating love triangles are sat on the tables and chairs, and u can only drink your drink in the cafe area so an awkard stand in the corner while i have a drink situation!

Theres a bar called the eastenders i dont even need to explain this one its all in the name!

4.Staff. my nephew cannot skate well so he kept falling over i was always a meter or so behind to catch him, but the members of staff on the ring seem to be more bothered about chatting to the female skaters and i assume checking his online dating profile as he never put his phone down, cafe staff meh maccies down the road! To get your skates or trainers back your looking at a 15 -20 min wait depending on how well the desk staffs day has gone!

Quiet a small place there are kids skating around where the seating areas are its a little like a zoo. seems like a place that people dump there kids to go play bingo! And not care how they dress!! And then theres the spolit kids on there that fly around with there own skates because they beg to be there every weekend so they can show off!

Im going to go again but only because my nephew likes it and its a 5vr! You get your moneys worth!! but i would recommend tetnus shot before you go and a good pair of headphones. And...

Long review~ Horrible we didn't enjoy it at all, thought it would be fun after a day out shopping in Derby as we had never been there before so thought we'd try it out. When we got there it was packed way too full there was not enough room and they have ridiculous security at the doors they were patting down everyone for food and drinks which made us feel uncomfortable, awkward and singled out as we had been shopping and had some food and drink in our shopping bags which got confiscated until the end. they didn't give out clear instructions, they were saying there were separate queues for boys and girls which was a bit odd. the cafe was small and we couldn't even sit down and eat, as kids were sitting around the tables not even eating and also half of the seating was closed off. You can't even slightly stand outside the cafe area with a drink as security guy tells you to go back in when you can't even move in the cafe, especially on skates. Some of the staff were miserable and ignorant and I kinda felt a bit unwelcome. They also played games which involved everyone who wasn't playing getting off the rink so we were standing around for 15 mins per game waiting for them to finish because I was not going to play tag and dodgeball in skates. thought it was going to be a nice skate but obviously not we was not made aware of the games prior to going. Oh and none of the toilet cubicles closed properly and wouldn't lock.. I felt as though I was treat like a child and will not be returning and certainly not...

Long review: I just take my 3 boys to Roller Derby for roller skating for Jordan's 7th birthday. My 10 years old was overheating when I grab a baby beaker of water and asked him to drink some, not knowing that even a baby beaker of water was banned in the building. I mean the staff was in our face so aggressively that the boys break down in tears and begged me to leave, on his 7th birthday this happened. Not knowing that the baby beaker of water was banned I tried to explain that it was only water and he was suffering from heath exhaustion. He say he don't care you didn't buy the water here, the 10 year old continue to drink the water and they started to shout till the boys started to cry. I say look you're making the kids cry while I'm trying to stay calm hoping that will help to claim the kids. He say it's my fault why they get involved because I didn't buy the water there. I tell him that we won't be coming back, he say I don't care, you can leave now for all I care, I say we'll leave if we get out £23 / $30 refund back, he said that's not going to happen so I tell him we're not going anywhere as we'll be using the service we paid for. But the kids was crying so bad and begging to leave, so we leave and remind that everyone action have consequences. When I say consequences I don't think he understand what I mean. The aggressor is supposedly the ower and a staff who feel really big standing behind the desk. #RollerWorld #RollerDerby #BBCRadioDerby
