I’m sure we’ve all got our default curry house of choice. This is ours. We’ve been dozens of times over the last few years since it opened, conveniently located as it is right next door to my pool and snooker club which it shares a very large free car park with.

The restaurant is in a large building beneath Roller World, with lovely vaulted ceilings. The décor is very stylish and despite the vast size inside does not feel like a warehouse. The waiting staff and the owners have always been courteous and efficient with us, and plates are cleared promptly between courses.

The food itself is very good quality. You expect to lose a little quality when dining in all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants but I’ve never felt let down by the food at the Slice of India. There’s an exceptional choice of menus which gives you a brilliant opportunity to try out dishes that you might not normally dare to go for. We all have our safe choices don’t we? There’s a great selection of starters, and the Dosas are wonderful. There are cold choices as well as the usual hot dishes. There’s a stir-fry bar that my wife always heads to while I load up on a selection of currys. There are no kormas, if that’s a concern to you, but there is the similar butter chicken. Should you prefer to stay local there are English dishes available along with some nice pizzas.

To finish the dessert selection always goes down well, with the ever popular ice cream, marshmallows and chocolate fountain available too.

The Slice of India is a popular place, and all members of my family young and old enjoy going. It represents good value for money with an excellent range of...

We have now made a promise to never return to Slice Of India after going for years and spending thousands here. We went as a family of 5 and a 9 month old baby. Our baby was fed before attending and only had milk (brought from home) at the meal and sucked on a slice of cucumber from a family members plate. When it came to paying at the till, we noticed they had charged us £4.50 for the baby. When we told them that the baby didn’t eat anything and the cost should therefore be removed, we were treated with sternness and got told angrily that we never said that the baby wouldn’t be eating prior to sitting down. We thought this would be implied looking at the size of her and never dreamt that a buffet restaurant would charge for a baby under 1??? And when we said she only sucked on a cucumber slice from our plate we were told ‘well then she ate didn’t she’. Absolutely ridiculous, do the management team really need to charge for babies? Especially when they didn’t eat! And then to treat paying customers so rudely upon exit is uncalled for. Disgusting behaviour from management who should know better. They have lost our custom and I would advise all to avoid. Bang average food, overpriced and food hall setting. We only used to go as Derby has limited choice and we would go spontaneously when we decided not to cook. Looks like we will now be saving some £ and/or finding...

worse cheap food ever, curries all bland and just base gravy, no meat no lamb chops no sheesh kebab as advertised. I dont like or eat chicken so had 1 plate of beef/lamb rojan josh. , no vegetables in it no onions or peppers, just gravy. all the curries are just about mild nothing nice and spicy. all chicken dishes seemed to be thigh, no chicken tikka you know the bright orange chargrilled stuff. hardly any standard curries . not keen on their spices they use either. when i showed the staff the online menu and pictures of kebab and lamb chops and a grill station they just said they stopped doing them since covid, i explained all i had was a plate of meat rojan josh and not happy about paying for a buffet without the simple indian things. they werent interested and still charged me for it. there is a picture of their chef saying come try our pizza, it looked nice with peppers and stuff on it. but in reality it was the thinnest sorriest looking cheese pizza i have ever seen, even asda take away pizza are better. miserable staff. chefs that dont speak much english and dont understand you. absolutely shocking place and food, dont waste your money, if they had of knocked some off my bill i wouldnt have left this review. so if someone doesnt go because of this review they are loosing more money than giving me a...

1st time here, I guarantee it won't be my last!! Every single dish I tried was absolutely amazing! The staff was on point with everything from helping to order food from the fresh cooked areas, and helping translation of the dishes into English so I knew what I was trying out at every station 🥰 They also have English food, pizza, nuggets and chips etc,, Chinese dishes , chow meins, rice's and sweet sour chicken 👌 😋 And just to top it off,, wow the pudding selection! Seriously these guys have it all down perfect, from fresh cakes to fresh fruits, jelly, ice cream and even a chocolate fountain. I could go on and on,,, best thing is just go n try for yourself 💯🤗

First time here. Surprised by the size of the place! So much choice of food it was amazing! Lovely curries, lots of very nice dishes. We weren't really guided by the waiters when we arrived so one improvement would be to show you where the plates are, the starters etc....there were dishes behind too we discovered later and along ( pizza and chips ). Maybe even a menu on the tables listing everything as not everything was labelled. Desserts all very nice! No labels though! Very large place so would be better if divided up a bit more with different areas, different levels, different decor even. It felt a bit like a holiday camp/school canteen .
