Paddock — Restaurant in England

The food is okay but the service is horrible. I ordered the "breaded wholetail scampi" which had the image of a big fish right above the writing (as seen in the image) hoping that I will get what is shown in the image above the writing (as usually you put the image of a dish next to what the dish is. Instead I have been served with tiny fish that looked nothing like the image. When I told the waitress that what I received is not what I wanted, showing her the image and how I got confused by it, and if I could have my food changed (it still fell under the same price) she said that she won't because "that's what I ordered". Usually, in restaurants, they either pay you back or change your food of you're not happy with the food received, so why would it be a problem here? Yes, I know that the description of the dish says "10 scampi" but I assumed that the image matched the text so I just ordered what I saw. English is not my first language and I haven't eaten scampi before so I had no clue what it was. Even the people I was at the table with whose English is their first language got confused about the food just because of the image. My main complaint is about the service received and how the waitress doesn't care to help a customer if they're not happy with their food. So, in the end, I just had to eat some food that I didn't want just because I paid for it in advance and the waitress couldn't be bothered...

What a lovely pub, cosy atmosphere came here on a spare of the moment thing for a date. When we arrived this was around half 6 it was fairly quiet. We had a couple drinks and seeing food being brought out we decided looked too good we cancelled reservations else where. My date ordered the steak wiv salad and he ordered me chicken new Yorker wiv fries. These were the big plates I didn't realise there was 2 options but my date got me the larger one. Both our meals were lovely and reasonable in price. We then was approach I believe a manager or owner about the quiz and if we would like to enter. The place was busier now and we decided why not. The quiz was fun and atmosphere in the place continued to be very good with everyone happy and friendly. I believe this quiz is on every week. Would I go back and recommend again, most certainly just wish I found this place sooner seeing not too far away but still fairly new to derby. Defo will be bringing back the kids for...

We reserved a table here for Christmas eve, we've eaten at it before and it was nice before its "renovations", first our table was right the back of the over 18's section, where two people were already sat and had to be relocated. The table was a mess with no cutlery, menus or napkins, just a 'reserved' sign. There were tons of kids in this area, which as i just stated was for over 18's only, we asked about this to which to barmaid didn't really care about. We had 2 people stood directly behind us leaning on my seat and it was super loud, 20 minutes of waiting later with no menus i went up and complained and the woman then decided to tell us "yeah we stopped serving after 6" even though we had booked for 6, this was never explained to us before so we had no idea, and was not stated when we sat at the table. In the end we decided to go to a better place with good service, wouldn't eat here again. - Wouldn't recommend, used to be a really nice place, now...
