Fabulous spot to visit although safe times to cross are very restricted so check the tide times. Despite only being a few hundred yards offshore,it is a very spiritual place and I can well imagine St Cuthberts immersing himself in the icy waters of the North Sea.

Luckily visited on a day where the tide was low enough to walk across to this island, gives a slightly different view and has some nice secluded spots to explore and see the seals up close.

Very emotive island, once the home of st cuthbert. You can listen to and see the seals here, as well as enjoy views over to Bamburgh. We were lucky enough to get the blue moon too.

Very emotive island, once the home of st cuthbert. You can listen to and see the seals here, as well as enjoy views over to Bamburgh. We were lucky enough to get the blue moon too.

Lovely little island near the church and priory, accessible at low tide. Very low ruins of an old chapel. Fabulous views. Sit and have a picnic and watch the seals messing about...
