Great place, shame the website booking is confusing and utterly bureaucratic. Not designed for the occasional visitor. The information on the booking page doesn't correspond to the activities. So, what's bouldering? What's a first time boulderer? If there are 4 first time boulderers in your party why is it necessary for all 4 to receive instructions? The instructions are pretty basic, hardly worth the effort of paying extra. Utterly pointless all of you paying for it. What's a concession. Hold on, let me dig around for that info on the website. The website has clearly been designed by a GCSE student, not a web professional.
I registered last summer. However, when I got to the centre had the laborious task of having to fill out all my info again. Plus they took photos of my 6 year old kids, not entirely comfortable with that and all the personal info they hold. Considering the website is so bad (I doubt they paid anyone to design that rubbish!) I don't have much faith in them holding my details secure. I did receive a reminder from them that apparently they needed my details. They sent it at 2am on the day we went - I left the house at 9 and hadn't checked my emails. I mean, you know, I have two kids to get ready first thing in the morning, because that's what parents do.
The place itself and the instructors are great. But the place is let down by an over-complicated and confusing website. Whoever designed it should really think of an alternative career....
Read moreTotally agree with Jemma Forini whose post I've just read. I've been bringing my son here since he was 4 and he's now 11. We've done Rock Mice, Rock Rats, birthday parties, I did a climbing course myself so I could bring the kids to open climbing sessions. . . And here we are today back for more. He still loves it, whether it be the kid's Digi-wall, auto-belays and kid's bouldering area or the main climbing are where he's takled all the walls, or the adult bouldering area or even the table football and good value cafe-bar . . . And now it's even better as they opened the very realistic and challenging caving experience earlier this year. 2016. Staff are always friendly and helpful. There's a real family atmosphere. I would give it 200% if I could. :-). Oh and I did not mention all the clubs, activities and courses that meet during the week. We only ever get here at weekends occasionally as we don't live in Gloucester. And we've tried all the Bristol ones so have a good idea of what to compare it with. Cheers. . . My only suggestion for improvement would be to get more child-friendly hand washing and drying facilities . . They are too high for small children in some of the gents...
Read moreStopped in as my 4yr old had been rock climbing a couple of weeks before. We were just around the corner so thought I would enquire as to how it all worked, I'm not into climbing myself and know NOTHING. The person that served me was so lovely and informative, they talked me through the process and asked if I wanted to book a session. The next session happened to be in an hour, we had lunch in the cafe and then my lad had his first rock mice session. The instructor on the session was lovely the 8 other young "mice" to deal with they did a great job at getting them engaged and listening. It was lovely to be in the room and watch as they played games on the interactive we all for to the first 30mins and then they got to go on the auto belay. Hats off to the instructor again for getting them all engaged and climbing. My lad really enjoyed it, although we'd had a busy morning so he was tired before we started. We will be...
