No specified car park so I parked on Millfield Ave next to the back gate. Lots of different areas. The children's play area looks well equipped. There were plenty of floral areas. I saw signs in regards to restoring the beck. I hope this is ongoing as it does need restoring, it is well overgrown with fly tipping in it. I saw a few buildings with their shutters down (this was a Friday in August) but there is a small semi-permanent building selling refreshments including special ice cream for dogs. One of the pavillions was by the basketball court and tennis courts. I assume this was for hiring them. However, the gates for the courts were open and unlocked so if you have your balls and rackets then you can use them. There was some planters growing vegetables. The only thing that lets it down is that there is a clear lack of investment, both of time and money. For a council run park it is actually very nice, but there are a few things such as things needing repainted etc. which would make it more pleasant.
As well, the beck which runs through the park could really use some attention, I know there is a petition currently going on to restore this and add back the flow but I haven't heard any updates for a while making me think it may have gone quiet.
Overall a nice place if you're local, if you're driving then there are other places close by you might want to check out such as the park in Heworth or even the University grounds which are very well managed and open...
