I don't like this cinema much. Staff mumble under their breath about you in ear shot.
They dont dim the lights fully unlike the other cinemas in the chain. The exit sign was so bright it was glearing all through the movie giving me a headache in the end having to sit there with my hand down the side of my face trying to block it out.
Seat was sticky getting all over my trousers, thanks for that one! At least clean the place once in a while properly.
Staff sit in the movie with you in this cinema, but are no use at all. Teens jumping about, talking, taking flash photos yet the staff do nothing about it even though they are in there too! The staff get up and down constantly walking in and out on top! So annoying.
This is the only cinema I've been to around that they sit in the movie with you watching you watch the movie. Kinda distracts you from the movie feeling eyes on you most the time. I didn't see the point in it seeing as the people causing issues was not spoken to.
I understand about people recording the movie or what ever they do but it is off putting to those who just want to enjoy it. Either the staff can be useful or let us just watch it in peace.
I was going to walk out of the place! I rarely go to Newquay cinema but very doubtful I will ever again after one too many bad experiences. If St Austell or truro not showing what I want then plymouth Vue but never this place again. The longer drive is worth it for the comfort.
I suggest the management here pulls this place back up there with the other three that are far better experiences...
Read moreLocal four screen cinema with level access facilities. Two screens on each floor, disabled toilets available. Counter height too high for wheelchair users at box office, snack station & bar.
Staff friendly in person & via email (when I checked about access), although getting through to the box office was a challenge, it was early evening.
Note to those using the lift. The doors shut rather quick which was an issue for me in an extra long wheelchair as it didn't stop until it made contact. We mentioned it to staff who kindly made a note to get it checked & offered to assist if I went alone.
I'm guessing all screens have the same sets of two swing doors close to one another before entering the screen. On arrival my PA held door one, the second was propped open. On exit my PA found both doors without a stopper. It was impossible for her to hold both open for me. A member of the public took pity & assisted. Again, staff later stated they would be willing to assist if I...
Read moreOur Newquay trip hit a snag with the weather, but it led us to discover a total gem: the Lighthouse Cinema! It was perfectly positioned just a stone's throw from our hotel, making it an easy and immediate win for escaping the rain. What really impressed us was how different it felt from the usual big-chain cinemas. This place has character, a brilliant atmosphere for families, and it kept the boys happily entertained for ages. If you're in Newquay and looking for a fantastic family-friendly activity, especially when the weather isn't cooperating, this is an...
