Mugged off with me chips!

Paid £3.50 for a side of sweet potato fries, came out looking all glamorous and full. Then the dastardly grease paper stuck up two fingers then laughed at me! 🤣 I was mugged off so much I went to the effort to make a diagram of this tomfoolery tactic! (See pic) I wouldn't put this down to the staff, kitchen or front of house.. more the penny pinching head office setting portion sizes. Sorry there was no before photo.. I was so swept up in the emotion of being fed and it looked soooo good.. it never occurred to me to document it! Also after reading similar experiences i believe im justified in my opinion about chips portions!! Similar dastardly tactics also applied to my tiny main meal (big plate, but massive rim with small food area in the middle) however.. despite my tiny portion (of bang bang chicken) it did taste good.. and dragged the review up (because of the chip malarkey debacle) from a 1, to a 2 star review. Service was with a smile, but could be improved. I was met at the door then given a table. Then after browsing the menu delights I waited patiently for service.. then waited.. then waited.. only after seeing another guy go to the bar to order did I realise I had to do that! No issue with going to the bar to order whatsoever (I've been to a spoons before) but.. it would have been nice to have been told as I walked in so I don't spend the next hour looking at the menu.. then looking up with no response constantly. Also, my pudding I paid for never arrived? Forgotton I guess? Also no option for a tab? Unusual for a restaurant? Don't they trust me? (In fairness i wouldn't trust me!) So had to pay the lot up front which was a pain. I'm not psychic so I don't know if I'd like 10 drinks..or be so upset about the chips I only want one drink!! Or perhaps a pudding after to console me? Maybe a sponge pudding to soak up my tears?? Or coffee to get me over being so upset/angry/depressed? I appreciate you can pay as you go, but that doesn't help guy that needs my food and drink bill all on one receipt. Is offering a tab simply impossible?

All that aside, wasn't my worst experience by a long way.. Nice venue, nice table.. and I could have potentially enjoyed it!

If I wasn't being massively mugged off by the pathetic chip portion.. and the sneaky tactics to make it look...

Yet again, a Lounge delivers a fantastic customer service experience. I'm sat here right now writing this as we decided to visit Newquay whilst on our holidays today, and due to a staffing crisis in the hospitality sector, most places are either not serving food at all or pre-bookings only, which is entirely understandable. At 4pm we were politely told food would be available from 5pm, and after a quick look round elsewhere to no avail we returned at 4:20pm to wait. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our seat by a mask wearing chap waiting on who is absolutely superb and deserves to be recognised for his effort to single handedly wait on the entire place, on his own, with food service coming from upstairs, no dumb waiter and the pent up demand of the entire pub ordering food simultaneously. Loungers group, you should recognise this fellow's efforts! (Tattoos on both calves) although all the staff are working hard as well. Seriously, no wonder hospitality is struggling to recruit! It takes a customer service attitude that's inherent not trained to deliver at the best of times and at times like these quantum skills to be in a superposition of everywhere at once! recognise this and pay the skilled rate it deserves I say! your venues will fail without these amazingly talented staff- they are your biggest asset. Food is yet to arrive but I'm happy to wait, I've never been disappointed at a lounge yet and I don't see that changing today. Edit: food arrived shortly after writing, and is amazing...

Absolutely love it here.

So we were here over Boardmasters - and whilst talking with the staff it was the busiest they have ever been.

That in mind, they have fantastic Gluten free and vegetarian options. My wife is Celiac, and from the moment of ordering they are on it. Unfortunately, I do not know the managers name who was called to take our order at the bar. But he was phenomenal, we had a difficult order, but nothing I said was too much.

The food was fantastic, my party thoroughly enjoyed the food - normal, vegetarian and GF - unfortunately, my dish had slightly too much oil in it. But I truly believe this was to do with the pressure the staff were under with the: heat, long days and number of customers.

I hate making a fuss, and get very embarrassed. However, the service recovery was amazing. We didn't want anything from it, we just wanted to let them know about the issue so it wouldn't happen again.

The staff are incredible and extremely friendly and very much make the experience. It was them and their treatment that kept us coming back.

A massive thank you to the whole team and the efforts they have put in. We'll definitely be coming back next time we...

Favourite place to eat, chill, and to have a dine. Lovely food with very generous staff. The food is worth the wait with a very vibrant ambiance and live music on weekends.
