The market is located in the heart of the shopping area of Great Yarmouth. It’s currently undergoing a massive reconstruction. A large wooden structure to bring the market into the 21st century. I have walked through a couple of times but I’ve not used all the services as yet. It’s all on a flat level so brilliant for wheelchair users. I’ve used the key and shoe repair shop. Really friendly and did a brilliant job of cutting me a new key. Run by 2 brothers who seem to really know what they’re doing. Our key was coded but he did it without the code and it works brilliant. And they were cheaper than most others around. There are butchers, hot peas, and chip stalls. Fruit and vegetables clothing, shell and wet fish, and, if I’m correct I believe there used to be or maybe still is an open market for other stalls on the car park. If you’re going to the market be sure to have some chips. There are two stalls on the end of the market, side by side. Now you have to chose which you will use personally I always use the one on the right but that’s not saying the one on the left isn’t ok too. Maybe it’s the colour of the stall I don’t know all I know is the food is nice and tasty. There are a few benches scattered around but it’s a first come first seated. Remember if buying food to eat you will need to watch out for thieves. No not humans. Seagulls. There are squadrons of them swooping down all the time and white patches everywhere to prove it. Try to get undercover whilst eating. I’m portraying this from many of my personal experiences. But it’s a seaside so there will be seagulls. Don’t be tempted to feed them you will regret it. And other users won’t appreciate it either. There are a few pay and display car parks dotted around Yarmouth and several disabled parking bays. I don’t tend to use them because when I go to Yarmouth it’s generally for a walk so I always park up on the sea front but it’s pay and display there too between April and October. Is it worth a visit. Well yes most definitely and will be much better come the summer season when the construction may...
Read moreThis market gas gone way down hill. I've loved coming here for over 40 years it used to be a massive market with great choices of stalls. The old market sellers bartering with prices. The old market traders using the gaggle and offering stuff like towels at not £30, not £20 But whole give me £10 for these pack of three bath towels. And the demonstrations around the place of kitchen appliances that sliced and diced. Mer for your car. Foam cut to sized and shaped for eg your guitar and guitar case. It's all gone now and is a massive car park. And food stalls out number the trade stalls. Come on Yarmouth bring back the market magic advertise and bring back the wonderful magical Great Yarmouth market we all loved and remembered that brought in more tourists from near and afar. You've spent money on revamping the sea front and prom now let's do the same and reinstate the great old Yarmouth market and bring it...
Read moreDefinitely one of the parts of "old" Yarmouth, but sadly in need of a bit of fresh "tourist" paint as is the rest of the town. Yarmouth could be so much more on the tourist map instead of just the location of the Pleasure Beach. (The units in the undercover market building sell amazing chips and lunch snacks, just make sure you have a baseball bat handy to ward off the seagulls.) The town is just crying out for people to see it without the tack. Holidaymakers take their kids to the beach, the funfair and SeaWorld, but how many little people would like to get up close to large working ships in the dock area, learn how those ships build and service the offshore wind farm, perhaps even go for a boat ride to see them up close and personal. C'mon Yarmouth, wake up and smell the coffee. There's so much you could have...
