We went to the Gathering Service which still has litergy, but a mix of hymns and more modern songs, sung by a music group. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions we cannot yet sing inside but you can hum or reflect on the words. There is a notice sheet given and they are starting to try and open up children's groups again. We partook in communion yesterday but just the bread, no wine at present. The atmosphere is calm and friendly and the sermons thought provoking. The building is also starting to open up during the week for quiet reflection. Upon arrive you sign in and scan the click and trace app and there is plenty of hand sanitizer available. Masks must be worn inside, of course. We enjoyed it very much. Read moreA large and impressive church, dating from the 13th century, in a beautiful location between the high street and the river. I was given a really warm welcome from a volunteer who was obviously very proud of her church and who told me about its history. She also gave me a leaflet which proved very useful as it contains a tour plan and covers all the most interesting features. The church is wide and spacious inside with some lovely Victorian stained glass and quiet chapels containing old family tombs and memorials. Read moreI attend the 11:15 Gathering service which is slightly more informal. There is also coffee between the end of the 9:30 service, 10:30 ish to 11:15. Just sit at a table and your order is taken. If you just want to sit and see what's happening there is plenty of space to pray and reflect. If you check out the website, kendalparishchurch co.uk it will tell you when things are happening. There is heating but it's an old building so dress warmly.
