Went for a quick lunch with friends, but despite the fact that it was almost empty it was fairly slow. On the plus side, it means ot is cooked fresh. The decor is a bit quirky, which is part of the place's charm. The staff is very polite, friendly, and will listen to the customer. My main issue is the hidden ingredients in food. I ordered the avocado stuffed portobello mushrooms, after thoroughly reading the ingredients, I have a rather large list of intolerances and only mention the main ones, as it seemed the safest option. The plate looked amazing, the problem is that when I bit into it there was basil mixed in the avocado, which had not been mentioned on the menu. We were tight on time and couldn't go through all the fuss of pointing out and waiting for another to be made. Be careful about what ingredients you put on your menu and which ones in your food.

Brew brothers - Kendal Short review : Great place for coffee and breakfast at Kendal city centre. Pet friendly. Detailed review: A local from Kendal recommended this restaurant for it's coffee and all day breakfast. This place is quite popular, so the queue will vary depending on what time one is visiting. The regular latte was alright. Maybe the next time I would go for the smaller size instead. Our egg Benedict was interestingly wholesome. We went for the light bite Hot smoked salmon on toasted sourdough which was unique as it had wilted spinach, bacon and poached eggs on a layer of cooked smoked salmon with siracha hollandaise and pea shoot dressing. Egg florentine plus royale with a good siracha punch. The service was quick despite it being reasonably crowded and the servers were friendly. Pleasant ambience, comfortable seating. Open on Sundays.

We had an oreo and biscoff milkshakes and they were really good! £5 each but come in cool mason jars. Staff very overworked but were very friendly and service was efficient. I like the Sharing Tables, good idea. Prices are good, a bit more but it is a lovely cafe and I’d definitely return and get food this time! I actually really love the having to wait to be a seated. NOTHING is more stressful than having to find your own table, so this is actually so much easier and far less stressful, especially for anxious people (like me) who gets easily overwhelmed in new cafes. It is also dog friendly and there is a table outside

Food was good if a little overpriced but such an unfriendly atmosphere, hence why we hadn't been here for five years, attitude from youngish guy with beard, so obnoxious and rude, other staff miserable. There is a reason this place is never busy and amongst locals it has the reputation for unpleasant staff. There are better, nicer places to eat in Kendal.

I am actually quite bemused at the defensive review the manager has posted in response.

I have many positive and good experiences with various venues and services but as is human nature mostly only bother to review less than great experiences, that is allowed. The fact he put such a long response actually shows a slight lack of confidence in his venue? It is actually quite disingenuous and petty that he has took time to read my past reviews. Most of my reviews on Tripadvisor are 5 star, I don't know what point he was trying to make

I mentioned one particular staff member, youngish guy with beard, who had real attitude on him, actually looked annoyed when my partner said he didn't require a menu for himself, then in an agitated manner told me to go to certain point of counter for placing my order. No big deal, we won't be eating there again anyway. I believe I praised the food, anyway?

I have lived in many places in the world yet in England, Kendal in particular, people are so easily offended and judgemental. Thank god I have more in my...

Ordered a steak pie and the meat was very chewy so it was taken back to the kitchen and replaced with a ham and cheese toasty . I ordered an americano which I was told I had to pay for and wasn't part of the swap for the meal. I'm absolutely gobsmacked as I payed £12 for a meal which was sent back and replaced with a ham and cheese toasty no coleslaw no salad .the waitress kept saying I I had to pay for the coffee as I'd already had a free ham and cheese toasty. FREE!! I had already paid £12 for a meal I didn't have, but the waitresses couldn't understand the concept that the ham and cheese toasty wasn't free by any standards as I'd already paid £12 for something I didn't eat !!! The coffee should have been complimentary but the waitress embarrassed me in front of the whole restaurant by calling me back as I walked out and told me I hadn't paid for the coffee. I am absolutely disgusted by the behaviour of all the staff there , they should all be sent to customer service training as none of them had a clue how to resolve customer service issues , and as no manager was available they just shrugged their shoulders and said there is nothing they could do and the coffee had to be paid for....
