So, the name of the restaurant is Araya now, but it still shows up as Jintana on Yelp. We came here for dinner on our last night in Kendal and what a pleasant surprise! It turned out to be not just the best meal of our vacation so far, but honestly some of the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time.
The inside of the restaurant was nice and intimate and did not match the front exterior at all. Statues and nice decor all around.
Once we were seated, we started with prawn crackers, spring rolls, and fried prawns, then moved on to our mains: pad prik beef, chicken pad Thai, and a vegetable red curry with sides of jasmine rice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying.
I only wished they had those tiny Thai chilis in vinegar, but they did have chili oil, which was good. Service was excellent; seemed like the owner (?), chef, servers, and hosts all pitched in and helped each other, which was nice to see.

Read moreFirst time in Kendal and we were looking for somewhere to eat on a wet, Wednesday evening. We got talking to some locals who recommended the newly opened Araya. So, myself, my wife and our two children decided to try it out. We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was full of flavour, aromatic and it smelt wonderful. The children had Pad Mee, which was full of delicate flavours. My son said the noodles were "insane!" My wife had the Pra Ram Rong Song. The need was very tender and again, a light, delicate blend of spice and aromatic flavours. I went for the traditional Thai Red Curry and it was very fragrant and delicate. The service was lovely and attentive and we were given a warm welcome by all. All in all, a lovely evening, good food and a really pleasant atmosphere. Good luck with your...
Read moreThe most delicious Thai meal ever. The five dishes we shared were each unique in their taste and carefully prepared. The green curry was not a standard mix made in a blender, rather had a flavour I could not quite work out with my tastebuds. Even the prawn crackers were unique and delicious in flavor. Don't bother with the how spicy do you want it? We just ordered and each dish came out as on the menu, none too hot yet each was full of flavour. It was so good, we went back for another meal while passing through Kendal, this time sharing vegetarian dishes versions, equally as tasty. I can recommend the aubergine and all the curries and...
