Terrible university. When appealing grades that come with no negative feedback to the Dean of the university , my emails seemed to go unread, probably because the wife of the person who was a tutor on my course,l worked alongside the Dean𤯠and probably didnāt want to cause hassle for her husband ā¦
After the only member of staff that was as ever nice to me left, the drama course emphasised the very clicky side, who their favourite students were.
I left with a very good grade might I add but the feedback that we were given on our final show made 0 sense as we had no negative feedback other than an opinion from one tutor who said it wasnāt for him, yet it was the busiest show for the year. We had an independent tutor mark our work in order to get an idea of what grade we get⦠We got over 15 % higher from the more experienced and more well established tutor⦠the tutors who gave us the final grade gave us a grade that was āunfairā and āridiculousā- our independent tutors words. Again showing the clicky side and when appealing the grade, for some reason itās getting swept under the rug, almost as if they were loosing students before hand and they needed to bring down the average student grade on the course to make out itās highly elite course in order to justify why itās a failing course with less and less numbers every year ā¦.š Do your research on that front.
Iāve heard theyāve done this before with a group of students they didnāt like because of a piercing being in for the show (it wasnāt a period piece, it was a character that was written by the studentš) so how could the student who created this character be wrong and marked down a grade for essentially wearing the costume for himself that he wrote as the coauthor ā¦. The tutor didnāt think they would do thatšš I didnāt think Michael Scholfield would come back from the dead ā¦. But he did because it was written that wayšš(staff opinions getting lost in actual moderation standards). They also got marked down by an entire grade! Itās ridiculous!
All through the course you are told your opinion matters but it doesnāt, one of the modules we had pitched to us in third year was ādevisingāā¦. We did no ādevisingā ⦠we did what the tutor which was a scripted piece from some random old film that was just awful. The same tutor became very nasty to some of the students in the show week (not including myself) , However keeping everyone behind to criticise those poor individuals in front of the rest of us of the class was bullying and completely unprofessional, the rest of us just which felt so uncomfortable, I canāt imagine how those poor individuals felt. Read up on the course, thereās a reason itās on its knees at the moment. Do not do this course the best staff left (meaning Hilary Elliot because she honestly was the only reason I stayed on the course for as long as I did). Otherwise terrible course with arrogant staff. The university was pointless as my multiple appeals to the dean, I sent had no response.
Itās all a click here. Do not waste your time. You want experience? You can get it with local theatre companies and film making companies. Thereās plenty.
To the tutors who marked me down for ridiculous feedback and clearly no understanding of what is entertainment and what sells. Helloš Iām going to be performing at Leeds Playhouse in my company as a paid and professional actor, I will be touring Yorkshire with my company next year. I wrote another play (what am I likeš¤·š»āāļø, sold out all nightsš). We are going to be at Manchester furnace festival and Edinburgh fringe very soon. This is all in my first 9 months of owning a theatre company š Maybe I know more than you liked to give me credit for. Good luck with the sinking ship. Life is good. For me not you. Your reputation is hilarious at this point.
Bestest of regards and wishing you luck

I trust this message finds you amidst your daily activities, although I must confess that my own sentiments are far from tranquil. Allow me to express my deep-rooted frustration and profound disappointment regarding the abhorrent level of service I have experienced from your esteemed institution.
On April 12, I embarked on a quest for information, one that should have been resolved promptly and with a semblance of professionalism. Yet, to my utter astonishment, your response failed to align with even the most basic expectations of effective communication. You explicitly assured me that my certificate had been retrieved, and I quote your own words, "Your certificate only came back to the University last week. I will repost it today and will let you know the tracking number when I receive it."
Eagerly anticipating the tracking number that would have provided much-needed clarity and peace of mind, I began my arduous wait. With mounting concern and a commitment to maintaining a courteous tone, I repeatedly reached out to your office through numerous follow-up emails. Regrettably, your silence in response to these inquiries demonstrated a disheartening lack of consideration for my legitimate concerns.
To my disbelief, it was only today that you finally deigned to provide the tracking number. However, what I discovered shattered any remaining vestiges of patience or understanding within me. Your negligence has allowed my certifications to languish in Turkey since April 26, unbeknownst to me and against any reasonable expectations. And now, the website has the audacity to inform me that they are being sent back to the UK, yet again!
I must assert that the level of dissatisfaction I am currently experiencing cannot be adequately expressed in mere words. Your egregious mishandling of this situation has left me profoundly dismayed and deeply dissatisfied with the services rendered by your institution. The trust I once had in your capabilities has been irreparably shattered, and I find it incredibly challenging to maintain any faith in your surface and commitment to rectify this matter.
As a responsible and conscientious individual who has entrusted you with a vital task, I implore you to reflect upon the gravity of your shortcomings and the adverse impact they have had on my professional and personal pursuits. Your organization's lack of transparency, poor communication, and blatant disregard for the importance of my certificates have only served to exacerbate my dissatisfaction.
I insist that you take immediate and decisive action to rectify this situation. The timely retrieval and secure delivery of my certifications, without any further complications or inconveniences, is now a matter of utmost urgency. Additionally, I expect a comprehensive explanation for the mishandling of this matter and a clear plan of action to prevent such inadequacies from recurring in the future.
Allow me to reiterate the intensity of my displeasure, which surpasses any prior grievances I have ever expressed. Your inability to meet even the most rudimentary expectations has compromised my trust in your institution. I anticipate your immediate attention and an adequate resolution to this matter, as well as a commitment to improving your services to ensure other individuals are spared such harrowing experiences.
Yours with profound...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis university does not care about its disabled students! They do not follow the directives that they make! Directives that are supposed to be there to help you. And if your needs differ from what they have on their guide, they will not make any adjustments or effort to accommodate you.
The teaching staff are extremely overworked and do not have any time to assist students. And I am specifically making reference to the school of applied sciences here. My personal learning plan stated that tutors should give a more descriptive brief for my assignments, none of them ever did. And it was in the plan that is supposed to help me! Tutors would always take too much time to reply to emails when help was needed, and I dont fully blame the tutors, they are extremely busy.
The disability support is a joke, as i already said. They have set things that they can do to help, if your needs are not helped by what they have to offer, then they will not do anything to try and address that. The communication between the disability support and the schools and staff is also unacceptably bad. It could take months for things to be communicated, if it happened at all. The disability department is full of people that dont actually understand the disabilities people can have! They did not know what help I would need at all. I have aspergers and ADHD, and one person I spoke to outright said she didnt know what they were! She worked for the disability department. They are not trained to understand what help disabled students will need at all. And if you complain about it, not only with nothing get done about it! But they will resent you for it, and act like it too.
The systems they have in place are not adequate at all, they are not even usable. They cannot even actually be applied to the needs needed by the disabled students. Communication take too long, so long that you can actually be massively affected since you didnt get the assistance you needed. I actually left the university and have moved to UCLAN to study. I simply could not lean effectively at Huddersfield. And the best part, when I explained i was moving university because of the issues, they didnt care at all.
If you are not disabled, and can fully constantly work alone and not need any help. The university is actually quite good! But if you are a disabled student, or sometimes you need a push in the right direction, this university is...
