3 stars only just. I emailed to tell them id check in 10:30pm. Arrived at door after travelling from Newcastle and no answer.. turns out there's no reception. Luckily a couple arrived a few mins later and let me in. They were foreign but I think he worked or lived there. Told me to go 1/2 mile back up the road to a sister hotel to get a key for this place. I did and I got my key. Receptionist said they had emailed me via booking.com at 10:15 telling me to see them first for my key. Checked emails and showed them that I had nothing from them. They said sorry. Had my phone died or been someone who doenst rely on a phone id have been screwed. Dont want to be hassling with this at this time of night. Room was tiny and forward facing so heard all the traffic on the very busy road. Shared toilet as expected. No lamp. Only main ceiling light which is a pain when getting up in the dark or just wanting to read your book in bed. The bed was lumpy and had a big indent the size of half a basketball at waist level.. at first thought it was memory foam but turns out its just a shagged old spring mattress. Good thing I didnt have many hrs to sleep as up early for US embassy appointment which is a 30 min walk away. Room was clean but tired. Toilet and shower rooms modern and clean. Id give 3.5 stars but the check in problem let it down.

I had a wonderful stay in the Superior Twin room on the ground floor! The room was lovely and bright, creating such a welcoming atmosphere. The convenience of having a mini-fridge in the room was a great touch, and the kitchen with a microwave down the hall was super handy. Everything I needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay was right there. Highly recommend!

We stayed here for 2 nights last weekend. We checked in at the sister hotel which was a short walk down the road. We stayed in room 4 which was a spacious and clean room. Friday night was an absolute nightmare! From 2am-6am the noise from the other guests was horrendous! We didn’t feel safe at all, especially with there being no reception. We had no sleep at all. They were laughing, shouting and banging around for most of the night. Our whole room smelt of cannabis, it was a joke! The next morning we went to the reception at the other hotel and complained. The guy on reception was very pleasant and apologised and said it wouldn’t happen again. Saturday was much better, no noise in the hotel but the noise from the traffic is unreal. It’s like sleeping on the hard shoulder of a motorway! As we were getting ready to leave on Sunday morning the lady staying below us knocked on the door and told us to be quiet. I couldn’t believe it! We weren’t doing anything apart from getting ready to leave. The floorboards are so creaky and noisy. Obviously she can’t have stayed the night before and heard the noise we had to put up with! |The TV in the room is the smallest TV I’ve ever seen! The bed is the equivalent to a mattress on the floor as it’s so low down. The guest house is in a good location but that’s about it. The staff were also very nice but I’m sorry I wouldn’t recommend it and we certainly won’t be staying again. We paid £225 for 2 nights, I’d rather stay in...

You have to check in at the Chelsea Guest House, which is a good ten minute walk between the two houses, which was very annoying at the end of an already super long day of traveling. The building itself is very nice and the room was very clean and tidy. The TV in my room didn't work, which was a shame, but the bed was lovely and comfortable. The bathroom was bigger than the bedroom (I stayed in Room 2) which was also very nice and clean. My only issues with this room was that firstly, there was a door that lead outside through the bathroom... I didn't enjoy sitting on the toilet looking straight towards a door that was floor-to-ceiling glass. Anyone could have walked up to it and looked through to see what was going on - even easier when it was dark outside and the lights were on in the bathroom... quite creepy. Didn't enjoy that at all. My second issue was the floorboards of the room above mine. Whoever was in there got up at 4am and pranced around for two hours before they left. It was so unbelievably loud that there was no chance I could have slept through it (it woke me up abruptly and then continued for two hours, so no sleep for me as I had to get up at 6am anyway). That really spoiled my stay, but there wasn't anything that could have been done about it. Other than that, the room was lovely and warm, the shower was great, lots of cupboard space and a wardrobe, and complimentary tea and coffee. I would stay again if needed, but I would ask for a...
