Maiella Worth — Abruzzo’s Soul in South London
Tucked between Clapham and Battersea, Maiella Worth is more than a restaurant—it’s a love letter to Abruzzo. Family-run and quietly radiant, it offers a rare kind of hospitality: the kind that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into someone’s home, not just their business.
Atmosphere Rustic yet refined, the space balances intimacy with openness. Wooden accents, soft lighting, and a gentle buzz from locals and loyal regulars create a setting that’s ideal for both quiet dinners and spirited gatherings. It’s the kind of place where you linger—not because you have to, but because you want to.
Food & Drink The menu is a celebration of central Italy’s culinary heritage, with a focus on fresh, handmade pasta crafted daily on-site. Highlights include:
Pappardelle con Ragù D’agnello — rich, tender, and deeply satisfying Gnocchi alla Boscaiola — earthy, creamy, and comforting Arrosticini — grilled lamb skewers that channel Abruzzo’s rustic charm Pinsas — a newer addition, light and crisp, with bold toppings Cannelloni — often served with a complimentary limoncello, a gesture that...
Read moreSpending a few days in the neighbourhood for work so went for dinner at the weekend with a colleague.
Had a really nice meal with good service and a nice atmosphere!
On my first visit I came with a colleague. We shared the fried pizza as a starter and it was very nice then and I ordered the Gnocchi main course and shared the homemade tiramisu which was delicious! I always enjoy pasta in an Italian restaurant and my colleague hadn’t enjoyed a previous pasta dish she’d had from the restaurant so on her suggestion I didn’t choose pasta at the weekend.
I returned tonight as I’m staying in the neighbourhood and I had the lobster ravioli aa my main course and it was the most delicious pasta I’ve ever eaten.. tasty, fresh and just the right amount. I’m glad I ordered it.
I choose from the Christmas menu and it’s great value… a great selection of dishes including a glass of processo!
Friendly team and owner. I enjoyed a complimentary Limoncello after my meal!
Highly recommended If you’re in the area give them a try you’ll enjoy it! I’ll be back to try out some of the...
Read moreWith all the great reviews I had really high expectations for this place, but to be honest, I was a bit let down.
We went there for lunch, and ordered the Pappardelle con Ragu' D'agnello (lamb ragu) as well as the Arrosticini tradizionali (skewers in terra cotta pot with focaccia on the side).
The Pappardelle itself was cooked just right, but the ragu was lacking in flavor, mainly salt. Service wasn't very attentive, and after trying to get someone's attention to ask for salt (and at that point it was just us in the restaurant), I had to get up to find it and get it myself. Even so, salting an underseasoned dish after the fact only helps a little.
The Arrosticini was tasty though, as was the focaccia that came with it.
Service wasn't that attentive nor very helpful when it came to helping us decide what to order. The food came quickly though. It could be that we just caught them in...
