I am extremely disappointed with the service at the information desk and ticket window 5 of King's Cross train station in London. I was scheduled to take a train to Edinburgh today, on August the 12th at 18:00, and I arrived at the station around 17:30. I inquired with station staff and was informed that the train would be delayed by 17 minutes. However, at 17:45, as I was preparing to enter, I was told that the train would be delayed by 30 minutes. On my third inquiry, I was informed that the train was now delayed by 90 minutes, only to later find out that my train had already departed.
I was directed to the ticket window 5 to change to the next available train to Newcastle, because there were no more trains to Edinburgh. Then they said that, since there would be no more trains from Newcastle to Edinburgh, by the time I arrived in Newcastle, that they would pay for a Taxi for me from Newcastle to Edinburgh. When I foolishly went to the information desk with this information I was just given, I was scolded rudely and redirected back to the ticket window by the staff there, once again at window 5. Upon seeing me, the staff member yelled at me, stating he was off-duty and refused to provide any ticketing assistance, nor did he help me change to the next available train. At one point, the staff member literally yelled at me, asking me forcefully, over and over again, "Why did you miss your train?! Tell me! Why did you miss your train?!" I could not believe that I was being talked to in this manner, in a professional setting. Over and over, I was sent back and forth with conflicting messages and no one would cross-reference this information with the other desk that they sent me to. Everyone just wanted to pass the problem off to the other desk.
This entire process left me extremely frustrated. Firstly, being treated so rudely as a tourist is unacceptable, and I received no assistance whatsoever. The service at King's Cross in London, a major metropolitan area, has truly left me...
Read moreKing's Cross railway station, also known as London King's Cross, is a passenger railway terminus in the London Borough of Camden, on the edge of Central London. It is in the London station group, one of the busiest stations in the United Kingdom and the southern terminus of the East Coast Main Line to North East England and Scotland. Adjacent to King's Cross station is St Pancras International, the London terminus for Eurostar services to continental Europe. Beneath both main line stations is King's Cross St Pancras tube station on the London Underground; combined they form one of the country's largest transport hubs.
The station was opened in Kings Cross in 1852 by the Great Northern Railway on the northern edge of Central London to accommodate the East Coast Main Line. It quickly grew to cater for suburban lines and was expanded several times in the 19th century. It came under the ownership of the London and North Eastern Railway as part of the Big Four grouping in 1923, who introduced famous services such as the Flying Scotsman and locomotives such as Mallard. The station complex was redeveloped in the 1970s, simplifying the layout and providing electric suburban services, and it became a major terminus for the high-speed InterCity 125. As of 2018, long-distance trains from King's Cross are run by London North Eastern Railway to Edinburgh Waverley, Leeds and Newcastle; other long-distance operators include Hull Trains and Grand Central. In addition, Great Northern runs suburban commuter trains in and around north London.
In the late 20th century, the area around the station became known for its seedy and downmarket character, and was used as a backdrop for several films as a result. A major redevelopment was undertaken in the 21st century, including restoration of the original roof, and the station became well known for its association with the Harry Potter books and films, particularly the fictional...
Read moreIt's fun to come and take a look at harry potter gift shop and platform but it's not that die heart appealing to see a half cut trolley with few luggage bags on it , i mean it would have been awesome if they make it a bit more real like you can go through the platform to the otherside if it opens with some kind of button and the cammera man who takes pictures there can make a picture of you going in while the wall opens , kind of fantasy coming to reality ♡♡♡:)) But still you can get a vibe and lots of stuff related to harry potter and the magic which itself is magical and takes you to that world which you lived in the movie with the characters itself ...:))
The que was too long for the picture taking with the trolley and was a bit frustrating as people do so many re-takes if they think it's not a good one !! So if there are more family members you have to wait extra long which is quiet tiresome . Alot of people then left the que as it was way too long for just a picture holding the trolley and the wand !!! I took my pictures just standing a bit away from it as it was a long wait in the que but was happy to get it .♡♡
The pictures you get in the end are quiet expensive may be not for the fans who are crazy about it and don't think it's that expensive . But for crazy fans it is still expensive though ;))
Anyways if they can do something to make it a bit more realistic it would attract people like crazy ♡ for example if they can pass through the wall for train or some kind of passage :))) anyways it's just a crazy fantasy related to harry potter ;)) Overall it was okay but still prices are way...
