The woods are also lovely for an autumnal walk and the Lesnes Abbey ruins are definitely worth exploring for their beauty and historical significance. Paid to go on a fossil dig here so sieves, small trowels, identification sheets and a guide on hand to answer questions were available BUT the area is open all the time so you could bring your own digging implements and do it for free.
