Who would have thought that there is a place for people to take up foil legally in London? Walking past some beautiful wood and you will find this place not far from the road. This place is amazing with lots of educational information around. We were able to dig up fair amount of shark teeth and shells the first time we went there. We didn’t make any reservation twice we went there. However, the place could get busy. We were just using some children’s shuffle to dig out stuff.

This place is amazing with lots of educational information around. We were able to dig up fair amount of shark teeth and shells the first time we went there. Fantastic place if you have children who love digging for fossils. We found lots of great shark’s teeth and fossilised shells. The woods are also lovely for an autumnal walk and the Lesnes Abbey ruins are definitely worth exploring for their beauty and historical significance. The only suggestion I would make is that the fossil pit could be better signposted although we did find...

Paid to go on a fossil dig here so sieves, small trowels, identification sheets and a guide on hand to answer questions were available BUT the area is open all the time so you could bring your own digging implements and do it for free. A brilliant way to spend an hour or two with kids or adults and we found over 20 shark teeth and tiny sea shells that were millions...
