Too old, too small, too shabby, just too Lewisham. Given the enormous boost to Lewisham councils coffers from the massive over delopment around the railway station which must amount to multiple millions surely it is way past time yo redevelop this creaking shopping centre. The state of the open air market outside the shopping centre is a public health disaster. The street flooring is broken and unspeakably filthy, sticky, stinky, and will inevitably lead to disease. Fish scales filthify feet. Lunatics freely roam. Russian television, 2 years ago, broadcast from in front of Macdonalds that this is where to go if you want to join I.S. every single youth support facility has been shut down. The library doubles as a doss house on cold evenings. The portable toilets are broken, hardly any independent traders pay more than 5 pounds per hour, while giving out bogus pay slips to enable their workers to claim benefits. Gangs of Muslim evangelists in clothing appropriate to Jeddah, with expensive boots clog up the pavements and compete with incoherent charismatic bawling out their competing messages of salvation. Did I mention the blood from the stabbings? Or the constant sirens sent to pull the populace to sleep?? Or the human feaces up against the back of the library wall from well over 3 months ago and in the nearby...

Read moreI’ve been coming to the Lewisham Centre for such a long time. Honestly, the centre itself is definitely showing its age — it’s outdated and could really benefit from some improvements. You can clearly see the wear and tear, but despite that, it still holds up well in some areas.
You’ve got a great selection of shops — Sports Direct, Argos, Sainsbury's, WHSmith, and various phone shops. There’s also a nice café in the middle of the centre where you can grab a coffee and relax. It’s still a convenient place to pick up a variety of things in one trip.
The market outside the centre is a highlight. It’s always buzzing with life, which is great because it supports local farmers and vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables. That adds a real sense of community to the place.
Overall, it’s not a bad centre. I’ve been going there since I was a child, and while it’s clear that it needs some updating, I know there are plans for a renovation — which will hopefully breathe new...
