Been coming here for a while as it's the closest sauna to me, I was thinking maybe they were having a busy time period, but in reality it's just a dirty centre with dirty facilities. You can't blame the staff because they're probably new workers without many years of experience. Some days I find blood on the walls inside the cubicles (even some during morning sessions). I come on a variety of days, some being men only sessions, some being mixed, and there are recurring themes: when it's the weekend, parents bring their kids to the splash pool and that's all well and good, but the parents take the seats designated to sauna and steam room users, they walk through the facilities dragging fox faeces and all kinds of filth from the outside because no one makes them take their shoes off, so were forced to tread on it all. In the evenings, the cleaner likes to jet wash the changing rooms and spread all kinds of legionnaires and other various unknown particulates into the air. During the mens sessions, it's like the staff have gone on holiday and turn a blind eye to who should and shouldn't be there, this is evident by women often coming during men only sessions and the sauna/steam being overcrowded. Here's a tip, if you would like to go to sauna and steam room, don't bother paying the £12 entry fee, no one checks! Just pay for the swimming pool and use the facilities as much as you like.

The staff and people who use the sauna and steam room are so nice. Reception staff are all welcoming. I like it because it's clean, relaxed and the staff are lovely. This has convinced me to purchase a membership.Yusuf made the entry seamless and was quite welcoming. The staff does work really hard and vigilant to make sure the sauna and steam are not overcrowded as people with no wristbands tend to come in. My friends and I are very pleased with the services of this gym. Hannah is a sweetheart, explaining where to find the gym. These young people are great at what they do.

If they actually tried to stop people pushing through the gate for free they may be able to offer proper paper towels rather than toilet roll on the gym floor Edit: great to hear one week later you have replenished the towels.. Regarding gate security it's simply not true. People shamelessly wait in the reception area so they can run through the gate as people leave or force arms through to hit the exit button so they can force the gate. Staff routinely turn a blind eye to all of this (and I don't blame them, management should fix the system)

I'm goin to cover the good points, bad points and then my overall review.

Good:

Price : Outside of any membership sales offered by other gyms,  this is point blank period  the CHEAPEST gym around. The price is really the key selling point for this gym outside of its location and focus on casual gym members.

Casual Friendly - this gym is is a cardio and casuals best friend. The machines and overall equipment within this gym make that crystal clear in case you came here for bodybuilding purporses. This is a huge turn off for me as I would prefer for gym's to atleast have a somewhat decent balance between machines and free weights - but with that being said, this can and so be a great plus if you want a gym free of all of that.

Community - this gym feels like its centered around catering to your general community member as opposed to your typical "get ripped quick" gym's which is good because the gym comes across as less intimidating and more welcoming for new comers. This point it made especially true when you look at their outside posters with the "regular" looking people as models as opposed to shredded guys and gals were used to as posers. I personally prefer bodybuilding gym's as they tend to cater to both casuals and fitness peeps but that clearly isn't the target market for this gym.

Bad

Hygiene: When I saw the gents changing rooms and toilets it was enough for me to know right there and then and this gym would be a straight NO for me - matter of fact, it wasn't just a no, make that a HELL NO. I haven't seen toilets that dirty and badly kept outside of random public toilets by train stations. I could go on, but I'm sure you get the point.

Lack of equipment - outside of your standard cardio machines this gym is really lacking in terms of bodybuilding equipment - they don't even have a dip stations, so no dips for those looking to build arms prefer bodyweight exercises. Additionally the space for body building is also very small especially when compared to the rest of the gym which is stacked with cardio machines also and exercise areas. Expect to have to queue for most free weights during peak hours as the selection is pretty substantial.

Lighting - you'd think that the gym would atleast have some great lighting as depicted in the pictures of the gym on their ads and stuff...but nope. This might not matter if you just want to put your head down and workout ...but it becomes  a glaringly obvious thing when you see how things are reflected in the mirrors around you and when you're walking around the gym or if you're trying to take pictures.

Overall this gym was s hard pass for me. Its one thing to be a community centred gym, but it's another to completely alienate bodybuilders and fitness fanatics out. I guess what I'm saying is unless you're a cardio bunny or into some classes they offer which you can find in other gyms anyways, then this gym isn't for you or me. But if you're just looking for a gym to hit the machines on and go home, then welcome to Leyton Gym

This pool is just across from where we live so we are regulars here with our child who loves playing in water and learning to swim on his own because it's just so easy for us to access. However... facilities are not so great. The changing area and toilets are always dirty, there are always long wait for showers because at least one will not work and another will only have ice cold water running. Also If you go as family with kids there, there are only 3 larger changing cabins which sometimes get occupied for hours by same people, leaving their things inside with a family member to keep it while others finish their swimming session. The hair dryers always have issues too. Ihave never seen them all working. At least one will be broken and there are only 3. The pool is very small already which makes it even smaller when half of it is taken by swimming lessons and it's ALWAYS overcrowded to the point you can't even swim you just go and sit in there because it's too packed to swim around. We tend to book family fun mostly so we could take our floats and there would be more space with no swimming lessons in place but it doesn't make difference because it will still be overcrowded. Pool is dirty due to overcrowding too, will always see some dirt and old wristbands floating in it. And last time we had particularly bad experience with a staff member who told us that we cannot take our float inside the pool even thought it was family fun session. She was telling it to everyone and all the kids were upset because noone has ever told off to peoppe on family sessions about floats. So she was walking there Like a dog guarding everyone making sure they don't take their floats in the water and I noticed the min she left other were bringing their floats in so kids could enjoy and no other staff member had an issue with it becauee there are never enough floats of what they offer to public from their side. I give this 2 stars because it's our local pool and most of the staff members are friendly and nice but apart from that I wouldn't recommend anyone to travel here from far to use it becauee you will be very...

This swimming pool is a joke and staff is so unpleasant you wouldn't like to be back there ever again. Before refurbishment went there once to find dead cockroaches floating in the water and tile grout covered in mould. It was disgusting! 3 years on and centre may be cleaner now, but pools are small and overcrowded.

Sent my child for swimming lessons who according to their description online was fit for stage 2. Nowhere is mentioned that children in that group are already 4 months into a course and swimming unaided. On arrival there is no information available where should you child go, and there is nobody to ask that either. When finally found group, my little one has been ignored for at least 5 minutes, as wasn't able to jump into 1.10m water (she's 1.06m only), been told to sit on edge and wait another 5-8 minutes. Teacher took her to water, told her to swim (she can't, if she was able to swim what's the point of sending her there?), then he shouted to me that she is fit for stage 1 and he can't teach her as the have other pupils. I do understand that, yes I do... but being so rude wasn't necessary! She was passed over to stage 1 where teacher was much nicer and made her laugh again. I was so worried that after that first experience my child wouldn't like to go back anymore. Daniel took her by hand and allowed to show what she is capable of. She was enjoying remaining 15 minutes in pool. Been told by teacher to move her to his class at reception...

Went there and women behind the desk look like she is in pain sitting there. Explained about change of stages, then she says that there is no stage one that day and hour. I went on about telling her that my child was just at that class which she couldn't understand. What were those kids doing there then?! "Computers say's no" & she have ignored us turning her back on us.

Lack of customer service is beyond imagination! Ugh! I would not recommend that place to friend... in...
