I attended both meetings in Metropolitan Tabernacle one Lord's Day last year. I knew the moment I entered the building I was in a place where the Lord was reverenced. I thoroughly enjoy Dr Peter Masters ministry. I find it both challenging and encouraging and extremely easy to listen to. May the Lord continue to richly bless this dear servant of His and use him to bring many souls to the Saviour. May I add a further comment. Not everyone has the same experience when visiting a place of worship for the first time. A large congregation like the Metropolitan Tabernacle could easily be a lonely place. You could feel yourself being swallowed up, due to the largeness off the building and the congregation. No doubt I sympathize with those who have that experience. It would be very difficult for the elders to pay attention to every visitor who attended, many will slip through unnoticed. However, that was not my experience. Immediately I entered the hallway of the building I was recognised as a visitor and courteously greeted. The same was true when I left. I think what helped me was, that, I regularly listen to Dr Master on sermon audio. When I visited the Metropolitan Tabernacle it seemed as if I had been attending it on a regular basis. I felt at home in the place. What impressed me was the manner in which the service of worship was conducted. It was God honouring. The emphasis was placed on those things that are paramount in our worship of God; prayer, God centered singing, reading and the exposition...
Read moreThe Metropolitan Tabernacle is a Reformed Independent Baptist church in London that has been standing for reverent worship, expository preaching, gospel preaching, and the working church principle for over 350 years. The church was founded in 1650 by William Rider, and it has been led by a succession of notable pastors, including Benjamin Keach, John Gill, John Rippon, and Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
The Metropolitan Tabernacle is known for its reverent worship services. The congregation sings traditional hymns and anthems, and the atmosphere is one of solemnity and reverence. The preaching at the Metropolitan Tabernacle is expository, which means that the pastor takes a passage of Scripture and carefully explains its meaning. The sermons are always gospel-centered, and they are designed to lead people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The Metropolitan Tabernacle is also known for its working church principle. The church believes that Christians should be involved in the work of the kingdom of God, and it encourages its members to get involved in evangelism, missions, and other forms of Christian service.
I have been a member of the Metropolitan Tabernacle for many years, and I have been blessed by my time there. The church has been a great source of spiritual growth and encouragement for me.
I highly recommend the Metropolitan Tabernacle to anyone who is looking for a church that is committed to reverent worship, expository preaching, gospel preaching, and the working...

Visited the Metropolitan Tabernacle and came away impressed by both the worship experience and the historic significance of this legendary space. The building itself carries such weight of history - you can feel the heritage as soon as you step inside.
The sermon was solid and biblically grounded, delivered in the classic expository style that this church is known for. The preaching was clear, thoughtful, and engaging throughout.
The music was particularly excellent - both congregational singing and any special music really enhanced the worship atmosphere. You could tell there's a strong musical tradition here that adds richness to the service.
What stood out was how helpful and welcoming the church staff were. From the moment we arrived, people were genuinely friendly and eager to help newcomers feel at home. It's clear they take hospitality seriously.
Being in such a storied location - with its connection to Charles Spurgeon and centuries of Christian ministry - adds a special dimension to the worship experience. The Metropolitan Tabernacle maintains its theological heritage while remaining a vibrant, active congregation.
Would definitely recommend for anyone seeking solid biblical preaching in one of London's most significant...
