Me and a small group of friends made a booking for the lost passenger escape room. a few days before the lead booker received a reminder email and the day before a reminder phonecall just to make sure that nobody had forgotten about it as they do not offer refends as stated on the website, however you are able to book a room for 2 people and add up to 4other people on the day as long as they are paying in cash.
I belive the lost passenger is best done with 3-4 people, as there are areas which could be a tight squeese or times when at least one person isnt going to have anything to do. At the beginning we were given lockers to store all of our belongings and shown where the toilets were. As who would want to leave and escape room just to go to the toilet so best to go before the room actually begins I wasn't expecting to have to sign a waver/disclaimer before we started basically saying that none of have issues with being claustrophobic or being in the dark or health issues and after experiencing the rooms i can understand why, obviously there is a ghost around.
After that Joanna and Benedict seemingly slipped right into there roles explaining the task we as part of the underground team had been called out to do on the disused underground station.
The theming had us put on safety gear such as hi-vis and hard hats as which i think is great as i bumped my hat on things by accident a few times and without it would have ended up with a bump on my head.
There are multiple rooms containing puzzles that you need to solve, Joanna and Benidict were watching closely to be able nudge us in the right direction if we were having issues, with any of the puzzles, or to remind to not force anything open... if it doesn't move easily its not ment to.
We had a lot of fun and are all happy to return to the venue to tackle one of there...
Read moreDisappointing; had high expectations of the venue especially after reading so many great reviews and experiences both on Google and TA however we were very quickly left disappointed.
The day started great and the venue is fantastic with a rich history and great promise. The mission briefing for Underground 2099 was fairly brief and didn't really give anything away other than the objective, we assumed was to escape; wrong.
Placed inside and it was unclear after all the sound and effects had died down if we had actually started. The storyline made very little sense with such an amazing venue but we went in with it, the room(s) themselves were very well created but the puzzles had very little cohesiveness in themselves and it felt like we had to literally be guided through the objective of each puzzle by our host. [Just to add my partner and I have enjoyed many (many) escape rooms over the years all over the world so have a little experience.]
We eventually completed but it felt very much like we were going through the motions of completing each puzzle after a prompt, rather than one puzzle seamlessly flowing into another. We finished somewhat disheartened and I had already planned to visit later that day to attempt the Lost Passenger but decided to forego it and distract ourselves with an extended dinner instead.
All in all, a real shame as the venue showed great promise, the staff member we encountered was friendly and costs weren't unreasonable and I'd almost say good value for money. Sadly we won't be returning as there are far more escape rooms nearby to try. If you do go, I'd try one of the other missions and hopefully you have a...
Read moreWas a brilliant experience. It was our first time doing an escape room and the staff were really kind. We arrived late as we stopped of where we though it would be a 5 minute walk to the destination but it was a 30 minute walk but the staff was accommodating. Our guide was very understanding and very kind. I would say when going make sure you find the place in advance before stopping off to get a drink from a coffee shop. The place is a black building which is hard to find so make sure you go to the place well in advance to get the full experience. Talking about the actual experience we did Room 2: The lost Passenger. It was a really fun experience, very atmospheric and fun to do. The story was really fun. The tasks in the room were interesting. I would say there is a bit where you have to crawl on your knees in a tunnel, it's a very short crawl but when you get to the part I would suggest radio-in to the guide and let any people in the group with claustrophobia to be taken out my the guide and meet the other players in the room following the tunnel. The guide was really helpful and really kind, I wish I remembered her name as she was so kind to us. The staff at the event are so kind. Make sure you work as a team as you get more out of the experience. Also before the event, you get a briefing and the guide gives a walkie-talkie to one player so that they can communicate with us. Make sure the right person in the group has it as my dad had it and wasn't utilising it so I had to take it and ask the guide questions. Overall we had a really good time and I definitely plan on going...
