By the time we found PGK kitchens with the help of Lloyd from Kitchen Findr we had had kitchen plans and quotes from: Magnet, Howdens, Harvey Jones, Devol, Wren, Kutchenhaus, Ikea, John Luke and several others! We knew what lay out we wanted. Kitchen planning wise, Kutchenhaus in Chichester was outstanding but PGK won on value for money and quality. We purchased a Brigitte kitchen from them.
The Brigitte is a German mid quality range. It wins hands down over the suppliers listed above, as you can have it any colour you want for a minimal additional cost and its standard range includes an enormous range of widths, heights and depths. Brigitte, unlike Howdens, Magnet, Wren and many others still makes angled corner cupboards which are easily accessible and avoid having to purchase expensive internal furniture.
My partner is a coatings chemist. We can vouch that the paints used by Brigitte for their doors are high quality and should therefore not discolour over time. This brand also used top quality hinge and drawer liners (the best are made by German and Austrian companies). We have installed a large kitchen. It's been in for several months' now and we are very happy with it. The PGK Brigitte kitchen was less than half the price of a similar one from Howdens (and that was with the builder's discount) . Beware hand painted kitchens! They may be fashionable but they chip very easily and you will have to repaint it in just a few years whatever paint you use. To get the best bond, paint should be sprayed onto doors.
Durim, the fitter recommended by PGK charges a fair price. He is efficient, accurate and fast as is his helper, Albi. We enjoyed having them around and our many units were largely in in just one day. Durim and Albi work very hard. You will be in safe and experienced hands with these two.
We got our quartz surfaces from Planet Marble, who are on the same trading estate as PGK. They are not the cheapest but neither are they the most expensive and their service is very good. Durim knows them so they will "fit you in" when you need your tops. They work with a range of materials including granite and quartz. Their templating is accurate.
Many friends of mine have purchased kitchens from Wren with which they are happy . However, all of them have had nightmares with kitchen delivery, receiving damaged doors, carcasses and in some cases, wrong coloured doors. All have had big problems resolving these issues. My sister in law took 3 months to get her island sorted! Ikea has been more reliable for people I know who have installed them recently. Harvey Jones is expensive for what you are actually getting. Devol is of course, now very very expensive. John Lewis sell Mereway cabinets which can be bought more cheaply elsewhere. In my view, this brand is the best of the British but does not offer the range that the Germans have.
Our kitchen arrived on the allotted date in PERFECT condition. Germans like efficiency. It came in a small lorry and had patently been packed and stored carefully. We bought our Bora hob, Bosch ovens and dishwasher and two Blanco sinks from PGK's supplier. All arrived in perfect condition.
So, save yourself some time, and head for PGK - they have branches in Wimbledon and N London. PGK will have something you like that's good quality and priced fairly. The lead time is about 5-7 weeks from order to delivery for a Brigitte kitchen. It's worth the wait! It is sad that a kitchen from Germany is far cheaper than one...
Read moreThis was our first major kitchen refurbishment job but I was not sure where to start. We visited 4-6 German and Italian kitchen suppliers in addition to usual names e.g. Magnet, Wren etc.
I came across PGK accidentally while doing online research about German kitchen companies in UK and decided to take a look. I was not very sure of going for my dream kitchen simply based on online reviews and none of my friends/ families knowing PGK. I was certain before my first meeting that I would go , discuss , get some idea and out.
My wife and I met Dominic and he is such a brilliant designer. He understood our requirements very quickly ( he was the first designer who was so quick to understand and design first draft very close to what we wanted). We left first meeting impressed but not committed to buy as we had our mind set on another provider where we were going strong positive but their designer was super slow and every meeting she would get confused herself. We decided to keep the two horses race and Dominic’s speed , responsiveness, clarity of thought gave us so much confidence that after couple of interactions we dropped every other options. I was pretty sure to go with PGK but still very sceptical about the company , track records etc. I read a lot of reviews on trustpilot, houzz , Google and got convinced to go with them. Meanwhile we kept negotiating and making adjustments to design with Dominic. Finally we signed up with PGK , just 2 days before Christmas.
Our experience throughout the process from signing up to delivery and installation has been excellent. I have been very impressed with the whole team of PGK in Bounds Green. Dominic , Paula , Iona, Mukesh , Kim and Owner - Eranda. Very hands on with the customer and I had seamless experience across the company whoever I spoke to. In all their interactions , they made sure to look after my needs. My builder gave me more challenges causing to miss timelines etc but PGK was always helpful in changing dates , delivery schedule and finally I got to meet their fitter , Durim. He is always smiling and expert at his craft. I was very glad that I signed up to get the kitchen fitted by Durim. He has done so many PGK kitchens that he can fit them in his dream , super fast and flawless job. The quality of his work and expertise , every penny is worth. He remembers every small detail of the job and comes back for even the smallest of the things to make it perfect without your follow up.
PGK’s worktop supplier , planet marble , were also very easy to work with.
All in all , credit to Eranda ( PGK founder) who has built a really good team of excellent people and an ecosystem of good suppliers.
I now tell all my friends , definitely visit PGK for...
Read moreUpdate — Durim (PGK’s fitter) and his team have been amazing and they’re the main reason I’m updating the review. We hesitated to go with him as our builder said he could fit for a better rate, but honestly, make sure you get him to fit your kitchen! He’s incredibly talented, made our larder look more bespoke than the standard we got by default, and he’s just generally a really nice guy to have around. Kitchen does look stunning too. Shaluka, on the other hand, continues to ignore me as a client (still waiting for a reply on a question I asked in a polite and friendly manner a week ago for which I just got a “let me check”, not even a hello, and then ghosted again).
Original — DO NOT BUY AN ENGLISH KITCHEN FROM THIS COMPANY. From the moment we first stepped in the showroom, every meeting we had was late (sometimes we had to wait 30 mins, with people walking around us during the pandemic). The first meeting was a waste of time because despite us saying we were ready to buy as we knew what we wanted, they did not book us with a designer but with what seemed like an assistant. We should have walked away, but reviews were great and price was reasonable for a bespoke kitchen, so we decided to stick with them. Long story short, this is not a bespoke kitchen company, they just have more size options than high street retailers. Any small customisation is either super expensive or impossible. PGK can't break down the price because they're not the manufacturer and their systems aren't integrated, so quoting for adding or taking out stuff takes days. Actually, every step of the way takes days because they have to go back and forth with them. And despite Shaluka telling us over and over lead time was 8-12 weeks, we're sitting here with a 3rd update on our delivery and fitting, which is now looking to be 20 weeks after we finalised the order and 18 weeks since we made the final changes. We started with a pre Christmas delivery and fitting plan and now it's looking like February. Shaluka never seems bothered by this (and hides behind the fact our architect gave him an early Jan timeline BEFORE we made the order, eventhough I confirmed several times when we finalised the order we needed it ASAP) and is too busy getting clients for their new branch, so it takes me days to contact him, then days for him to act, and finally days for him to get any answers from their manufacturers. In the meantime, we're bearing the brunt of having to pay rent for more and more months because we can't move to an indefinitely kitchen-less house with 2 young...
