Such a great little museum, by appointment usually, but we went on an open day. It is a very small and crowded little room and access seems to be via a set of stairs. However it is an incredible part of history and it is one of those off the beaten track gems. It's fantastic place for history lovers, fans of ships and I think kids would learn a lot from it. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful. It is also brilliant that this is free. I also adore walking along the cobbled street full of converted warehouses to get there.

We also got to meet serving officers as they came in which added to the experience. Remember to book in advance as it is by appointment only.
